I am looking at the "monroney label" now.
Base price: 68200
M Sport: 3600
Cold Weather: 550
Exec Pkg: 4100
Destination: 925
Total: 77375
BTW: Std suspension is just fine. Push a button to Sport and it tightens up nice for the curves

Also, I wasn't thinking of modding this as far as I did at the beginning, so I went in more for the comfort but leaving a room on the possibility on modding. And I knew the N55 has more mods and room to play then the N63tu.
The other reason also, if I would go big, I would go all-in with the X5M. No offense to the 50i guys. But, since the X5M released, the 50 feels to be stuck in between. It is similar to purchasing an iPhone or iPad with 32GB while the 16gb being the cheapest and 64gb being the most expensive.
While 35d is a different breed, can't compare that to the gas motor. I was debating on that also. Good thing I didn't jump on that, because I will be bored in a few months.
Hey Ben

X5M is awesome but at $110k~120k it's almost two X5 . So suddenly just 12k more for 50i makes a lot of sense for ample amount of power. I rather get something truly light and truly sporty from that spare change haha.

I can meet you there.
I went to the one last year, It is hosted close by my place, so I can go anytime.

True. I never do a build on 50i or X5M. But for that much money, I would just go with Porsche.

I just checked Autotrader for prices on CPO 5.0 X5 cars - the 2013 E70s are in the mid 40s while the 2014 F15s are still in the high 60s and low 70s. It's an astounding difference in valuation for only one year, even considering the model change.

The higher trim the model the bigger the drop in price in 2nd hand market and options esp those outside of packages (like luxury/m sport) are worth almost nothing. Not too many people want to buy a used car for 70k.

how many people would take a fully loaded used e70 over a basic f15? thats right....

F85 guys are the "mandingo" of the X5 world lol (if you don't know what that means look it up but not at work lol)

There's an old guy out there, sitting in his fuzzy slippers and bathrobe, yelling at his wife "MARTHA! what's a mandigo?"

I'm with my family most of the time, so I'm not going to be able to use the power. Even when I'm driving alone, I'll never be able to open up the car without hitting a red light, pothole, or traffic. Why spend the extra cash to drive bumper to bumper on the highway at 15mph?

You should go for the MPPK. It seems the general opinion is that the power is underrated. It looks like instead of 320hp, you get 330. That still doesn't account for the 0.5 second 0-60 time reduction. That must be where the throttle response comes in. Coming from a N55, I can tell you there's some throttle lag and the power doesn't seem instant. Just for the improved throttle repsonse, I would get the MPPK.
+1

I'm in an E70 50i now and while the sound is great, the power is not accessible in the city. I'm seriously considering going small - like super small (Golf R or possibly RS3 if they bring it over) with my next vehicle considering my wife has an SUV and it's silly to have two.

And mpg is really awful with the V8 as to be expected - have never had better than 11 here in the city. With that said, from what I've read, the 35i isn't all that much better on consumption.

I'm really intrigued by the V8s that kill four cylinders when cruising to conserve fuel.

moabite ....read the page 2 comments. Diesel!

It is a real alternative that provides usable low RPM power and great MPG. And, it beats the 35i to 50mph, un-chipped.

Word. My wife's vehicle is a Q5 TDI. Drove it for a week or so and you're right - the torque is great.

I know it has been discussed at length but it stinks you can't get Msport on a diesel. *edit: I stand corrected if your sig is correct. Did not know you could do Msport on a diesel. **edit: nm I see it's an option now - awesome ðŸ˜

They make four diesel engines, one makes it to the US market. All available in M Sport trim.

25d - four cyl, ultra efficient, nearly as quick as an ML gasser to 40mph
30d/35d - "TwinPower" (marketing term) single turbo
40d - twin turbo of the 30d/35d
m50d - Yes, a diesel M. Tri turbo.

Here is a side by side: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1121787

Got a quote today from my dealer regarding to the MPPK, cost will be $2300 after tax here in Vancouver BC. I'll pass on that and go look for something else.

You can order the MPPK tune through the BMW vendors here for around $1200usd. They will send you the packet with the code that your dealer needs to do the software upgrade. Labor should be under 1 hour unless they are trying to rip you off.

Thank you Alan.

I just figured that dealer wants to charge $450 for labor to install the MPPK. Yes, they want to rip me off on that and I will check with other local dealers later.

My wife has 50i and sure it could use a better exhaust note but it's plenty loud when you first start up and under WOT. I think it's a great sleeper.

Throw this at your dealers face.....

BMW's own literature specifies the install is only.25 hours plus coding. My dealer did my car in less than an hour.
