Dinan Exhaust Reviews & Opinions...

For those who have installed the Dinan exhaust on either your X5M or X6M... Could you share your opinions and thoughts on the product? I am not looking for a substantial increase in output or to be the fasted vehicle on the road but would like to improve the exhaust note and possible increase the volume on the burbles and crackles. I do not have any interest in Akrapovic and already have the Dinan Tune and Intake.

I'm also interested. I had the eisenmann race exhaust, which sounds absolutely amazing, but the start up noise was unbearable in my neighborhood. And it shook the whole house every morning waking up the kids. If the dinan is just a little louder than stock I'd get one

That is exactly what I am looking for as well. I had AC Schnitzer on the 50i and it was obnoxious on cold start and I wasn't exactly the most polite neighbor when I had it installed. My wife wouldn't drive it until I removed it and reinstalled the stock one. So long story short I would like something conservative for 82% of the time and something fun for the other 18%.

I think the Dinan catback is exactly what you're looking for. It's really not that loud on startup. It sounds similar to stock on startup actually with a bit more bass. It's not unbearable at all. Great value too. I just installed mine and I am enjoying it.

Would you be able to upload some videos? I feel like the videos on YouTube stink.

Definitely hit up Golan @ AutoTalent for Dinan parts!

Will do once I get some videos or audio clips. Not much feedback or information out there on the product and Dinan themselves only have one clip and it doesn't say much about the system. The vehicle is standing at idle and then a few revs.

Thank you. Not sure why I didnt get the same results searching the archives.
It appears from the reviews in that thread that there is minor to no difference over stock when going with the Dinan. I have to assume it is similar to Milltek on other vehicles which yields the same results.

It appears the tips hang lower and protrude further than anticipated. I have to imagine that there is only a small amount of wiggle room for install since you're reusing the oem hangers and wiring for the valves but is this exhaust installed properly?

There is wiggle room on the protruding as most likley the installer did not cut at the right position leaving more of the stock pipe causing the exhaust to sit out. Sitting low might an issue with the oem hanger slouching and you might need new ones

If it was cut in correctly would it not line up with the stock hangers or is this now compounded effect where the hangers are being stretched and now sagging giving the look of protrusion and dangling? From the images above does it appear to be installed improperly or am I knit picking?

Very interested to hear everyone’s thoughts here. I’m definitely in the camp of slightly louder, deeper sound that won’t make the neighbors hate me, but also want it to be enough of a sound boost to be worth the money.

On another note how important (or not) is it to get the tune with it? Planning on getting the exhaust and tune at some point, but exhaust first and then the tune somewhere down the line. Should I wait and get them both at the same time?

I have the Dinan exhaust, tune and intake. I think it is just enough...slightly louder and more burbles. Does not give the pops unless you are upshifting at high rpm in low gear. I kind of wish it did upon deceleration too. Oh well. It is a very nice compromise. I did it all at once so not sure which added the power but it woke it up nicely. The X5M is my absolute favorite daily driver. IMO much better than the 2 previous Cayenne turbos that I had.
