Transmission reset proceedure
Does anyone know or have a link to the definitive tranny reset procedure? I've done a search but cant seem to find one for F15's. I have read to turn on ignition, (not motor) hold gas pedal down fully for 30 seconds but it is unclear if you release then turn off ignition or turn off then release the gas pedal. I want to reset my car as its being a bit clunky lately. Thanks

People swear it does help unlearn the adaptive settings which are based on your driving habits. They seem to say it shifts smoother but of course it is then learning again so hard to say how long the improvement might last.

1) hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
2) then press the accelerator down to the floor for 5 sec 3) then hit start button once to turn off power 4) then remove foot from accelerator 5) then waite for 2 minutes 4) then start the engine like normal and try it out! |

I recall doing this on my E60 a few times and to be perfectly honest, I wanted to believe it worked but it probably didn't. I recall the dealer resetting my transmission behavior when I complained about jerkiness of shifting at certain times.

I know the reset procedure:
Drive in Sport/Sport+ only Using 100% throttle every time you depart from stop Drive at maximum speed possible according to road conditions Use panic stop whenever possible For downhill or inclement weather also downshift to ensure compression braking Enjoy!

Ok so.i noticed some significan difference when holding the pedal down for 40 secs. Looks like it does work.
Do not hold brake Push start to turn on car just once Hold accelerator for about 40 seconds Push start again car will shut off Release gas pedal Wait about 2minutes Lock unlock the car and drive |

The “hold the gas pedal down” routine did not work in zf8 trannies in the E70 (not sure if it ever worked for the 6-spd). Using ISTA+ is probably the best way to go.

I believe reset only applies to E53, E70 most probaly don't work so much more on f15.
