Your favorite X5M/X6M modifications?

Hi all,

I’ve been off this sub-forum for about a year as I sold my 2016 X5M. I now drive a 2017 M3 LCI2, but I’ve got a new 2018 X5M incoming soon. My first X5M wasn’t modded, so I’m keen to explore the car a little more this time around.

Whether you own them or not, based on what you have seen, heard or read about, what are your favorite modifications for the X5M/X6M? What do you consider to be the best options out there? Akra vs Eisenmanm exhaust, etc.

I’m sure there are a lot more option available today than there was a year or two ago.

Rear Diffusor:
Wheels:
Suspension:
Exhaust:
Tune:
Intake:

Looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks.

I went with the dinan signature package which includes the tune, intake, exhaust and suspension. After spending 100k+ I wanted to have peace of mind about warranty.

I did also got all oem gloss black parts for exterior and cf center console and shifter.

Only parts i got that was not oem cf was the extended shift paddles from autotechnic, paint match front reflectors and rear X5m badge in gloss black.

1. Performance: FI catless downpipes and FI exhaust, + tune.
2. Cosmetics: removing the chrome side vents and replacing them with...anything. I used black.

Australia we don't have the same benefit of sticking with Dinan for warranty purposes. I imagine if we did, and I don't see why not, it would be a very popular choice.

I'll also be going with the gloss exterior for grills and gills as I did on my first X5M. Can't beat the carbon interior trim pieces either for the shifter and center console.

FI is a brand i'm definitely keen to explore. Watching video's online, they sound incredible, while still offering a valved system. The Eisenmann Race seems to sounds the best of all X5M exhaust options, but doesn't give you the option of closing off the valves (the Eisenmann Sport sounds like stock). Akra while sounding incredible, supposedly isn't very loud.

Keen to hear everyone's thoughts, particular on exhausts and suspension.

For performance, I would buy RaceChip again and will for the F90. 22,000 miles on it and it still works great. 0.80 second reduction 0-100 mph. Easy to install. Bypass plug makes a 30 second bypass which was very important to me for vacation drives , etc.

I own no garage queens. If it's in my driveway, it's been ridden hard and put away wet. ...and now, with a light crust of Maine road salt.

I got the OEM parts when I picked up my car after purchase and the rest shortly thereafter. I had a 2012 X6M with similar mods (Full Dinan, Vorsteiner CF, etc.) so I knew the look I wanted:
Akropovic Titanim Exhaust - best sound and looks great with the carbon fiber tips
Carbon Fiber rear diffuser
OEM carbon fiber console and shifter to go with CF trim
Black edge painted (no-chrome) roundels for all wheels, hood and tail hatch from IND Distribution
Black ///M Side gills (or whatever that those are called) from IND Distribution
Red Start Button from IND Distribution
OEM Black kidney grills
OEM CF mirror caps
Gloss black powder coat on wheels
OEM Rear window gloss black rubber “fins”
Clear wrap on front fascia, mirrors, fenders, full hood
Full, self-healing Feyn Labs nanocoat including wheels / brake calipers
///M LED door puddle markers

I know that’s a lot, but it’s really tastefully done and looks FANTASTIC.
