I love to see all the comments and realize that I share the same love for this beast. I have put 10k miles on mine and literally every time I drive it I smile. At this point I a, not sure how I could go without one in the garage. I also love that I have yet to see another one on the road.

toyota dealerships do not typically stock land cruisers and usually there aren't any to test drive... if you're going to buy a 90k toyota you have to really love toyota or have owned an LC before to roll dice on that one.

It must be my lucky day, a local dealer JUST took possession of a 2017 X5M yesterday. I'm going by after lunch to take it for a spin. After listening to everyone here, I have high expectations...

Just drive that if you must, but I think it's hard to make a decision based on a test drive. I made the deal on mine and then said I wanted to drive it. I could have technically backed out of the deal at that point. Good luck
I agree as M buyers that are long time M owners will not buy cars with miles. I have used BMW driving school for that as they have them all for you to drive and you can drive like you stole it.

I wanted to test drive an X5M so I asked at my local dealership. They told me it wasn't possible to test drive any M car at local dealerships. However, they contacted the BMW head office of the Benelux where I could make an appointment to test drive a X6M (X5M wasn't possible, but that didn't really matter).

Someone from BMW went with me on the test drive, he drove first and gave some information on the car. Then he pulled over and let me drive, even let me get on the gas. It was a nice experience, I bought an X5M shortly after.

I don't live in the US though so I don't know what the possibilities are in your area.

I'm from Belgium too.

Very luckily , the dealer (from who I've never purchased any car) allowed me to test drive the X5M for 40km.

They got it the day before , and was seating in the showroom.
