2015 X5 50i M sport - Vbox stock / RaceChip Ultimate
I haven't seen any posts regarding the F15 X5 50i baseline numbers posted here, so I threw a Vbox on my 150 mile 2015 M Sport Alpine white model and ran it this evening.
78 degrees, 2000+ DA in upstate NY typical summer evening and the truck performed excellent for stock. Truck was warm from a 20 minute drive prior to the runs. First Run: 1' of roll out run 1 = 0.18 seconds: 0-60 - 4.09 0-100 - 10.73 1/4 mile - 12.71 @ 107.93 Second run: 1' of roll out run 2 = 0.2 seconds 0-60 - 4.15 second 0-100 - 10.8 seconds 1/4 mile - 12.76 @ 106.89 slowed at 1279 ft on accident Both runs with A/C on and 6'5" 240lb driver. My tuned X5M ran a best 0-60 of 3.96 and 0-100 in 9.64 in NY summer DA, so will be interesting to see what it does with the tune. I'm pretty confident should result in better numbers. The launch control is much easier to use with the M Sport and the shifts are so much more firm. As with the X5M, I wish LC would be at a higher rpm as it immediately bogs after launch. |

Took me quite sometime to get a piggyback that actually worked for my truck for some reason.
Kamil from DTMHaus came through with a tune for the N63tu on my 2015 X5 50i. I tried Burger with no success with both MAF and MAP installs. Terry was super helpful with logging, but for whatever reason my X5 just did not want to accept the tune. Quick and easy install and on the stock settings, definite improvement over stock. I like the fact that it has a disconnect to return to stock without having to take off the air box. I will turn it up a bit, but wanted to get this posted. 1' of roll out run = 0.2 seconds: 0-60 - 3.89 0-100 - 10.00 1/4 mile - 12.49 @ 110.35 I'm hoping a little more boost and fuel and this will best my 2010 X5M S63 tune @ 12.45 @ 111 (track slip). |

I started out with the DTM RaceChip on setting D. I moved it up a single notch to E and managed the following:
60' - 1.9 seconds 0-60 - 3.80 0-100 - 9.86 1/4 mile - 12.38 @ 110.94 Should have it to the track this Saturday for a few time slips. The shorts are typically quicker at the track vs the Vbox while the mph is slower by 1-2mph as Vbox is actual speed while track is average over last 66 feet. Full tank of gas and 240lb driver. I'll try adding another click to the dial while I'm at the track and a gallon or two of E85. Worth noting my tuned X5M did 0-100 in 9.35-9.6 seconds and 862-886 feet - this one did it 915 feet. I've put about 50 miles on the tune now and it's pretty smooth. No issues and the lower rpm lag is now gone. Launch control is much improved. |

Did you get a result?
This has been discussed and covered that RaceChip for N63tu doesn't shows any improvement.

Back to Back runs
I wanted to confirm the results so I placed the deactivation plug into the harness and ran back to backs.
74 degrees - 2100 DA and made three runs. 0-60 4.19 / 3.81 / 3.89 0-100 10.71 / 9.87 / 9.92 1/4 mile - 12.79 @108.26 - deactivation plug 1/4 mile - 12.39 @ 110.94 Race Chip 1/4 mile - 12.53 @ 111.05 Race Chip I came off a little early on the last run as I was running out of room. Not sure what others results are, but unless my vbox only has an issue whenever I plug in the deactivation plug and run it stock, then I'm pretty happy. 20'+ to 60 and 80'+ to 100 or better - that's bus lengths on a stock X5 50i and right there with an X5M. Red line - deactivation plug in. I'll have the mileage back on it and run it tuned on Saturday then place the chip as with the other 4 N63 and S63 motors I've had/have all quickened with some time. Track Results
I drove the car 50 minutes to the track and lined right up and idled for another 20 minutes before my runs.
I put two gallons of E85 in a half tank. Race Chip Setting E : First Run - 12.35 @ 110.91 Second Run - 12.34 @ 111.41 Third Run - 12.32 @ 112.06 I then disconnected the RaceBox and put in the bypass plug: 12.66@107.20 I ran on setting D as well and ran: 12.43 @ 111.08 I'll go through the Vbox data and post some figures later. |

Drag racing an X5....
Do you have any intention to dyno so we can see where the power (torque and hp, separate) is being applied in real world application? That would be very interesting data and be a lot more telling about the piggyback chip. Drag racing (results) really don't translate to 99.9% of our street driving.

I do intend to get it on the dyno. Trap speed is a very good indicator of power.
It's the busy time of the year here in the North East and I will spend the majority of time in other vehicles. I'll post pics of the dyno when I can fit it in at the local shop. I'd be interested to hear what you consider real world applications.... The N63tu already has a good deal of tq available at 2000rpm, this piggyback I suspect increased it as evidenced by the 0-60 in the sub 4 second range. Also in comfort, part throttle tq is the same as sport + in the untuned version. Last edited by Droptopp; 04-23-2016 at 10:41 PM.. |

Cool stuff, thanks for sharing!
I think I remember you from my 550ix days, did you ever run much faster with the 550? I just recently switched to an X5 35i, and I like it. Added the RaceChip this evening and went for a quick shakedown on setting D. So far so good, it was just starting to add some oomph. Take care. |

The 550ix with the Dinan Stage II eventually ran a 12.4 if I recall with a 100lb lighter driver. That was a fun car and had a quicker 1/8. That car was consistent, could hot lap 6 times in a row and run the exact same time pretty much.
The X5 is a blast and I think on the next setting may even seen a 12.1 out of it. |

Just a quick update - 30,000 miles on the X5 now and not a single issue with the tune left on setting D.
Truck is still a blast to drive with all the tq down low. |

Interestingly I ran C for a while, recently moved to D. I seem for some reason to only get about 250 miles to a tank which in C was worst-case, but for D was all the time. Also felt more jerky, so I'm back at C and I'm back to getting 400+ miles out a tank of gas.

How is that possible on 50i to run 0-60 in 3.8 with tune only? I ran 3.8 but I did weight reduction of 400lbs. Something is not right
If you look at 1/4 time - it's about 12.35 on average with 110mph trap - also a bit strange to me - that suggests 11.9 is possible with about 115-117mph? For 5200lbs that's a too good to be true. I'm not questioning results, just trying to wrap my head around it. I'm 400lbs lighter - so I should run in high 11s? I doubt I can. Also strange is 0-60 4.09sec stock result (without chip) - that is x5m 0-60 time - how can stock 50i do it? |

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...0i-test-review Anyway, which tune do you have? Any problem with it so far? I’m thinking the Dinan tune for warranty purpose, but not sure if it worth the price.... |

Those are impressive results for just adding a racechip!! I want to get one but I have also read of some people not having any results with them, so if for some reason it didn’t work on my car I would be selling it hoping it would work for somebody else, unless it could be returned?
