I'm afraid if I pull hard enough I'm going to break something.

I have slightly different trim T-piece instead of your G-piece, but I believe removal is more or less same. You need a plastic tool/screwdriver (to not scratch bumper) and just need to pull it with enough force - it will come out

I'm just not sure where exactly your G-piece has clips, but you can try still
