I had extended by lease to March but then my CA told me he never cancelled my build. It was a smart move on his part. I got a production number and hopefully will have it in a few weeks.

Hey Chris,

To me 35 seems like a lot, but honestly, I have no idea what dealer volume is like month to month... I would defer to your opinion on this as it seems like you're pretty up on what's happening at the dealerships... I only think about this stuff every 3-6 years when I'm in the market for a new car.

If anyone is thinking about getting one, be aware. The sales guys are trying to get sticker for these F15s, arguing that demand is really high at the moment. Don't fall for it!

So you have 35 ahead of you overall or 35 just for your dealer? I'm imagining they pump out a couple hundred of these a month, so 35 in a week seems easy to me. When you think about it, the plant is making these for the entire world.. So they must be churning them out at a good volume. but honestly I have no idea when it comes to how many they sell or make in a week, etc. I've never been told how many cars are ahead of me, just build week and expected delivery.

I can tell you guys that these cars are in HIGH demand and we only have 1 that we refuse to sell bc we need to use it for test drives, but other than that they are sold as they come in.

As far as most dealerships holding them for Sticker.. yes its possible, ive heard of a few local ones not budging a dollar bc they know theyll find some idiot to pay full or above sticker (yes it happens!) .. my dealership wont. We try to be as competitive as possible and we wont sell for negative but we will discount it to get the units out..

Here's a tip for everyone (or at least those who don't know about it):

COSTCO auto program. In my case the dealers down here in Florida are very unwilling to negotiate and not surprisingly are also not part of Costco Auto Program (some local dealers offered me a whole $500 off MSRP!! ) so I read in another forum some fellow member talking about Costco. I decided to investigate and with a phone call I got 1K over invoice before BMW rebates, no discussion, no weird stories nor the usual speech from the CA: "you know, these vehicles only have a 6% markup and they are in such high demand" .

I'm happy with that deal! had to do it with an out of state dealer, and will either have to drive a few hours to pick it up or pay ~500 to have it delivered, but still very much worth it given my local market conditions! Even if you don't have a Costco membership, it's around 50 bucks to get one, needless to say that the savings justify that "investment".

$500 over invoice (carprices.com) That's what I got. And don't forget to write floor mats in the deal. Oldest trick in the book.

Gratz NewBimmer! I've heard the build is 7-10 days and a week or two after that for delivery.... How long after you received your prod # did your vehicle actually go into prod? I just got my prod # earlier this week... 800 # says there is no projected build start date yet..

Order entered into System on 09/05. But, it took almost 3 to 4 weeks to get the production number. Then 3 weeks later production started.

Smile Ordering as soon as I decide if I want the Mocha Interior Pkg.

BMW X5 xDrive50i
COLOR: Mineral White Metallic

Options:

ZXD XLine
ZCW Cold Weather Package
ZEC Executive Package
2VM Dynamic Damper + Rear Axle Suspension
453 Front Ventilated Seats

Cannot decide on the Mocha Interior Package ..... Will probably end up throwing it in there.

I think that or space gray and terra would look great. My wife isn't into the space gray, otherwise we would probably be getting SG/terra.

Would have gone that route if I could have convinced the wife- she's a beige/ivory fan.

that is what my diesel X5 will be. Yes, grey and brown "don't go together", some might say. They can stick that where the sun don't shine, huh?
