CarPlay on '18 X5

Hey all,

New here also- 2018 x5 35i.

Any advice on CarPlay intergration? I got a quote for a unit install 1k +, then heard I can just get it coded/activated for $200-300.

FYI also - Navigation also just continues to load and never opens.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Have you tried resetting it? Hold down volume button for 30 seconds until it reboots IIRC. I've been X5 less for a bit so my memory is fuzzy

All good, and yes ! Tried that method a few times. Was hoping Bimmer code had a way to help but nothing on that end.

I used BIMMER-REMOTE.com. He was pretty good. Remoted in and did all the work.

Find out if you have the "advanced bluetooth" option for your car. If you do, you can have carplay coded and be done. If you don't, you will need to add a bluetooth/lte antenna: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PFLWY77?psc=1

Garage List
You have the hardware, activate through ConnectedDrive for $300 then have Bimmer Remote enable full screen for $50. That’s what I did back in 2020.

Hey all,

I was able to get it coded just like the suggestions here for 250 (including the needed antenna).

Ps. Navigation icon now says “connect usb and activate with code “

Still have to figure that out, but shouldn’t be a deal breaker since I use CarPlay directions.

Thanks again.

Another satisfied Bimmer Remote customer here, although my Carplay was already active and I used him to activate Full Screen Carplay.

He can definitely get you sorted out. You simply need the OBDII cable connecting to a laptop running Windows.

He is readily available through whatsapp. I wanted something else done and he responded very quickly. Probably going to have him do my wifes GO2 we are picking up today. Hoping the software is up to date.

Hey guys, looks like this post has everything I needed to know.

Can someone please confirm if VIN: 5UXKR6C58J0U14684 has the necessary hardware to enable CarPlay? This car doesn’t have 6CP (CarPlay preparation option).

Background: I am thinking of buying this car from a dealer (it’s 2018 X5 50i) but not having CarPlay is a deal breaker and wondering if it can be enabled without addding additional hardware.

Appreciate your help.

Figured it out, thanks for the community here. This has has 6NP (enhanced Bluetooth) so it would work.

You should be all set then and your car should have the antenna already installed behind the head unit. Just get the car coded.

One more thing I couldn't find answer to. I believe I looked enough online but def. be missing this if it was answered before.

Here's my ques-
I can see CarPlay option for $300 available in BMW idrive connect store. I see that kubax86 offers CarPlay for $60 https://bimmer-remote.com/products/b...een-activation

My ques is what's the difference between these two option beside cost? Is factory option better in terms on reliability or kubax86 option reset some factory settings. Based on the cost, it's no brainer but want to see the other side of it.
