Check Engine Light on my 2017 X5 35D

Hi.

I had my check engine light come on and I checked it and with the Bimmer tool.

Are these expensive fixes to get done?

Are these errors mandatory to get fixed immediately?

Error codes below
------------------------------------------------------------
MOTOR (!) [Engine]
24F400 Electric fan, control: interruption
280D00 NOx sensor in front of DeNOx catalytic converter, NOx signal: NOx signal invalid for too long
28E400 Electric fan, plausibility: fan does not respond to test request

NOX sensors got extended warranty as far as I remember as well as they fall under the emissions warranty.

Check with your dealer first.

I think they have different warranty extensions in Canada unfortunately. But can't hurt to check with the dealer anyway.

Thank you guys. I will call them up in the morning and confirm. Fingers crossed as the service bulletin I found was for the US.

Warranty in Canada

Any follow up to this thread?

I got a "incorrect exhaust fluid added" message

essentially, i'm being told to replace the NOx sensors ($2570 CDN + (2) hours labor @$190/hr)

I mentioned that BMW North America extended the NOx warranty but not sure if it applies to Canada or not...

my dealership is saying that my vin is not covered... I have a 2014 BMW X5 35d with ~82,000kms (~51,000miles)

from the 'american' warranty, apparently it's covered for 2014 models, but they're telling me it's only 2016-2018 models that are covered in Canada... such BS. I'm trying to get a hold of BMW Canada but it brings me to an automated system then when i try to press a button, the call fails. I've tried 6 times now...

anyone have anymore info so I can continue trying to get a hold of BMW Canada Inc?

at this rate, i'm not sure if that would change anything since it's being determined from BMW Canada, not the dealership. The service rep is saying even if he submits the claim, it'll get refused...

Thanks for the info though. Luckily you're in the 2016-2018 range.

I tried emailing BMW Canada Customer Care, we'll see if they respond.

$4000 later and they can't even guarantee this will fix the issue...
