Rear view camera stolen

Has anyone else had their rear view camera stolen - seems to be a trend in London, UK? Some toe rag got mine a couple of weeks ago....

It's the same part on the X3...

Replacement is around £800/$1K. Any ideas how to make the replacement not worth stealing?

Check classifieds for someone selling one, probably yours. Can’t imagine another BMW owner being the culprit.

Unless of course there was only ever the one camera stolen, and the rest is a chain reaction of BMW owners wanting a replacement free. Don’t fall into the vicious cycle.

Damn that's frustrating, part of me would replace it but then again it might get stolen again...

I hadn't even thought of that, but scum will go for anything! I have a rear BMW eye cam, so hopefully that would catch them or at least put them off in the first place.

Hi - appreciate this is a really old post, but I have also just had my reverse camera stolen from the back of my car, and I also live in Wimbledon (there is clearly a dodgy local here somewhere).

Did you ever get it fixed and if so is there anything that can be done to prevent it from happening again?

Yeah, I live Teddington, all three BMW SUVs in my street, including my X6, had their rear view cameras stolen in one night. The dealer reckons a gang of pros are working the area. They break the hatch boot release to get it out. Nice.
