Help Identify what this is ...

Can anyone please make out what this is sticking out from the top right as indicated in the picture? It's on a right-hand drive 2016 X6 XDrive 50i M Sports.

Hard to tell from the picture but looks like electrical connector? Someone tried to pull wires through A pillar,got something disconnected and forgot to plug it back in?

Looks like an earth connector of sorts. I'm fairly positive the top(the section above the dash line) of the A pillar has no Earth point. The A pillar cover is just held in with one torx behind that plastic cap and 2x plastic clips. Given how tight the fitment between the cover and the dash is, that's not something that would of just jumped up through the gap between them.

Most likely something aftermarket was connected to that. Or the previous owner/installers did something stupid(in my case they taped up the side curtain airbag with electric tape).

That's right looks like a connection for an after-market device of some sort, which is kinder weird given the placement.

did your car previously have an aftermarket Android screen? I have seen people mount the GPS and 4g LTE antennas at that location for these screens to get a good reception.
I kept mine in the glovebox because it looked ugly there....

I would say, take the a pillar cover off. and:
A) trace where this cable goes?
or
B) since its freeballing, and not earthed on anything. Just tape up the connector and put it under the A pillar cover.

looks like a USB C. Most likely they (previous owner) had a device plugged in right there.

It's not in Bellevue but in Japan. I'm planning to buy it but the seller doesn't know what thing is - second owner and got it like that.
