Just heard from my dealer today. Production definitely moved from ~23rd March to sometime early April. Which means delivery to dealer in deepest Wiltshire early May

This morning... My vehicle's transfer company, Waggoners/United Road, was awaiting two more vehicles out of the Spartenberg plant to fill up a truck for delivery to my area. I don't think I'll have the vehicle for the weekend, after all, but probably next week sometime.

4 1/2 months seems excessive, even from today( unsure when you ordered . We are talking MY2015, by then. I wish I had your patience; anyhow, F15 is really nice. |

Just got a call from my CA : car will arrive "soon" at car dealer, but delivery is expected to be during week of 7th of April.. In fact, I'm quite sure it could be sooner, because I tracked it on 2wglobal.com and it was supposed to be in France on 16/03, but my CA will be on vacation next week !!

Long European delivery times

Are US deliveries still really quick even for orders placed around now, the excuse I have been given is that there are no free build slots to get them any faster over here. Does anyone know if X5's for the UK come straight from the US to the UK or do they go via Germany? |

http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=953371 My order bank for the first 3 months couldn't be filled and at one point I had at least 15 people who had submitted an order but BMW could not give me an allocation spot to fill it. This scenario was pretty much at every dealer. Last edited by barcelona; 03-21-2014 at 07:42 PM.. Reason: post # 13 |

If you look at the x5 sales numbers, it actually went down by a lot when compared to 2013 figures. BMW NA just aren't building it fast enough to fill the demands...

Your dates are pretty much in line with mine, ordered 7th MARCH, expected delivery 27th JULY. If it slips into August I'll tell them to keep it until 1st Sept to have the new '64' plate.

Out of curiosity, when you placed your order, did you your CA mention that they had a specific production allocation that your order would be filling?

I ask because that is how the dealers seem to operate here in the states. It is my understanding that the US dealers have certain allocations to produce specific models and if there are no orders for those vehicles the dealers provide specs. for vehicles they will enter into their stock to sell off the lot as new cars. The order for my car replaced one of my dealer's allocations which they would have taken delivery on for their stock. I'm just curious if there is a difference in how the European BMW dealers operate when ordering cars, perhaps ordering without allocations to factory production & just fitting in orders when production spots next appear.

I think it works the same in the UK. My dealer checked for the next available allocation (based on Engine/Model) and then also checked in case the he had any stock orders where production had not begun which could be converted (i.e. spec amended to match my requirements) - I think they can amend pretty much anything on the spec apart from the engine and whether its X/SDrive.

I'm not really sure to be honest, that part of the procedure was not really discussed. I negotiated an acceptable level of discount and then I was told approximately when the car would be delivered and that was it.
My original order quoted a delivery date in mid June though that was amended to reflect a spec change that I requested, the latest update states delivery 27th July. The procedure seemed to be the same when I ordered my X3 a couple of years ago though the lead time was not so excessive (delivery was 12 weeks)
