2017 Bmw X5d Engine Specs

Is there information available on if there will be engine changes for the 2017 model year X5d? This regarding the current N57 engine with 255 hp and 414 tq for the U.S. market vehicles. Wondering if they will change the engine so that it will have more power. If only we could get the X5M50D here.

Best all round engine is the 4.0D. (313 HP, twin turbo) in my opinion.

You get the power but dont lose out on the MPG, which means alot in the UK with our fuel prices!

5.0D is great if you have the cash, or if the price of diesel continues to stay low!

(Your torque figure looks a little low, the current 3.0D in the UK is 258hp 560 Torques)

I had an E70 4.0d and I've enjoyed a lot...but there is no comparison with the F15 5.0d which I own now...is like a domestic dog and a wolf...different species!!!

I drive around 20k km per year, the consumtion of the 50d is 2-3 liters /100km higher than the 4.0d meaning around 500 eur per year...negligible if you can aford to pay 70-80k for a bmw...

Downsides of the M50d imo, are no option for active steering (hydraulic, better feel), consumption increase and ACtive Sound which when in sport mode disturbs the quality of the audio system output (many B&O owners code it off). I must say that I love the M50d but it does have disadvantages. 40d (new one) is a good compromise, does not compare to E71 (I owned previously). Also if you add more power ( m performance for 30d) then you cannot have tow hitch with higher load capacity.

I have the active steering and I think this extra is a joke. Yeah, it's hydraulic, but so what? The wheel is so dead that you can't feel anything from the road.

I find the feel (resistance) more than that of M50d steering (which has some M steering). I find it being a lot different compared to all other combinations i drove (loaner cars etc). I come from an E71 and was soo dissapointed with steering feel of the F15 that i almost did not place the order. Find F15 with mpackage and AS by far the best. Did not try the X5M version.

And yes, you do not feel the road but the ressistance from turning the wheel in sport mode is much more expressed than with models without AS.

I really wanted the diesel, but I felt like we were getting cheated out the 40d; if there was the M50d, it would have no question my choice.

A friend of mine complained to me he felt that he was being cheated since he could only get the 30d whereas we had the 35d in the US. I had explain to him that our 35d was the same as his 30d...

The F15 4.0D is 0-60 in 5.9 compared to 6.6 for the old E70 version. The F15 M50D is 5.3 secs, so yes its a big jump between the 4.0D E70 and the F15 M50D but only 0.5 secs between the F15 versions.

If money was no issue then Yes, I would jump for the 50D, but if money was no option it would be the pure X5M.

Personally I think the F15 4.0D is a good compromise between speed and economy. I chose the 4.0D and added £8k's worth of extra's as opposed to the extra 0.5secs to 60. But to each their own, the 50D is certainly a great car
