Nick Murray's F15 X5 Review

Interesting review on the 50i from the perspective of an M4 owner.

Nice review…but turbo lag on a twin-scroll V8? seriously?

I think lots of people will associate Turbo lag with any turbo cars regardless if it is there or not. Interestingly, my 35i stock and equipped with MPPK and RC tune has none..

I think he misunderstood the slowness of engine response on the comfort mode as a turbo lag. I think that is how BMW program the car in how to react on a sudden full throttle under comfort mode.
Turbo lag is a sudden of power burst after the engine screaming out if breath.
Of course there is a slight turbo lag, but not as bad as what he shows in the video.
Also, don't compare it to an M car where even under comfort, the way the car react is programmed differently and the DCT gives you direct response much better than automatic and even Sport Automatic.

I an attest that the V8TT does have more lag than the Inline 6 Turbo. That was one thing i noticed right away when I drove a 650 and then later my 550 when compared to my 535 was how there was a smidge more of a delay from when you hit the throttle before the power would come surging on.

He also needs to use the heated steering wheel so he doesn't have to drive with winter gloves on!
