Performance Center Delivery

First post here after lurking for a few weeks. My partner ordered a 2016 X5 XDrive 35 I back in December. It's Glacier Silver Metalic with Dakota leather terror. Were scheduled for pick up at the Performance Center in Greer S.C. Wednesday Feb. 17.
I say "scheduled" because we live on a 3,000' ridge in the SW Virginia mountains and the forcast is for several inches of snow and ice Mon. and Tuesday. Hopefully the Subaru CrossTrek can get us down the mountain in one piece. We've both ridden BMW Motorcycles for years but this will be our first Bimmer. I'm looking forward to learning a lot about the X5 here. Hopefully this is posted in the right forum.

We drove down to Greenville SC Tuesday where BMW put us up in the Marriott and fed us before an all day session Wednesday at the factory in Greer as well as going through the Off Road Driving course and multiple trips through the slalom and the skid pad. Afterward a few hot laps with professional drivers. Really a great way to pick up a new vehicle and get a sense of its capabilities. Loving the new member to the garage.

Yes, I'd encourage anyone in the market for a new BMW a to check out the Performance Delivery possibilities. We had one couple from Seattle. They picked up a new X 3 and were traveling back via Key West, the Gulf Coast, Texas Hill Country and up thru Utah's national parks. Great way to break in a new car.
And really, where else can you go and have someone urge you to go faster, stop quicker and abuse the hell out of THEIR tires, let alone their new BMW's for a couple hours. The tour through the factory alone was worth the trip. Nice job BMW

Congrats!
Welcome to the forum.
I agree about a PCD. For those that can make it happen you'll always be glad that you did.
Now think about budgeting for the Car Control Class at the Performance Center. It's amazing when you learn what you can do in your vehicle. Much, much more then you think possible.

Thank you very much. I'd like to say that I was super impressed with everyone we met at BMW, from the factory tour guide, the driving instructors and this lady, Rebecca, who went over EVERYTHING, all functions of the car, answering all our questions tirelessly. A class act all around. Very impressive.
