I was hoping for 2,000 but was just glad I wasn't underwater since I only owned the car for 18 months.

I'm no expert but personally I think there's more room on the negotiated price. If you build it on any of the nada/edmund websites you should see an original invoice of about $80,250. If you take the $3k incentive out of the equation, that puts them selling it for $77,846....or ~$2400 under the original invoice. So what they're saying is 4400 miles of use is equal to ~$2400. Just seems a little low to me. I would think more along the lines of $1k depreciation per 1000 miles of use.

Additional source of info, check out the bimmerfest sub-forum "Ask a Dealer": http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=20 Your question is exactly what's commonly posted over there and would get some good/useful feedback posting there.

Best of luck

Since you've already signed the deal, are you having second thoughts whether it good enough? Bit late to ask for opinions, no?

On a lease though.. I wouldn't put any money into it, let alone a trade in.. its similar to putting a down payment on a lease which IMO is a big No No. Good luck with your deal.

Not many people understand the time value of money

But MSDs are often very helpful in bringing the price down so that may be one exception

For your deal - it's not a good enough deal

Walking away should be quite easy unless you love mocha everything

I noticed MSDs don't save you a lot, sometimes it's better to invest that money somewhere else with higher % than give it to the dealer for 3 years etc.

Are you aware of the current market conditions? Unless you are a broker and looking for customers I won't advise folks to invest in this extremely volatile market

There's safer alternatives at least here in Canada that pay around 1.5% - 3% in High Interest Savings Accounts Here is the current highest 3%. So IMO definitely not worth to do MSD's. Maybe it's different in US.
