Just realised where that back window comes from - it looks the one on the 1 series. (I.e the small hatch back , not the x1). The new one looks streamlined but kind of Datsun / Nissan like compared to the full bodied e70.

Biggest turnoffs for me:
1) the kidney grill is out of proportion with the headlights. Styling cue from Japan? 2) the lower front air intake "maw" looks weak and less aggressive. 3) the rear end and stance is too reminiscent of an ML or a mini-van. Overall, if the roundels were replaced with Honda logos, few would know it's a BMW. |

As with most BMW released, I have mixed feelings in the beginning. Then the outgoing model starts looking VERY dated VERY quickly. And at that point my opinion changes.

Definitely more evolution rather than revolution - almost feels like a LCI.

Was thinking that as well - although the Volvo seems to make more sense overall.
One thing I noticed about the back when looking at the back of the blue m sport pics is that the black fins make the back seem out of shape like a little kid has drawn it but wasn't able to draw properly. The heads of advertising and design on the you tube clip talk a good game but I'm not convinced they are so convinced themselves. The largely negative comments coming out can't be too encouraging even though the car will still sell like crazy). Why didn't they just design something that rocks straight off the bat instead of something you have to grow into ! Couldn't be that hard with all the talent they prob have there. |

For me E39 sedan body shape was best in the last all BMW sedans. It was classic car with classic body proportions.
E70 for me the same -truly classic beautiful design body that turn my head every time one pass by. F15 - I need to see in person and as with many other cars after some time I start accepted. But looking at this photo comparison - designers need to be

It's growing on me with each view.
Anyone else notice form the front on perspectives, the new wing mirrors looks considerably smaller? I think this was needed, E70 ones were HUGE and did make a fair noise on the mway.

Also there is a subtle change to the black SE wheel arches. e70 were black plastic but flared, whereas the F15 are black plastic but flush with the body, loses a little aggression and width. MSport of course both body coloured and flared.
I feel like a spot the difference kid!

god i hope they clean up this mess when they release the new X5M version. what a letdown. Where is the "sport" here?? When the RR sport comes out this will look 20 years older. Nevermind the cayenne (GTS or better) which is in another galaxy of refinement in the looks and performance.
