I also like the fact (not shown here but I saw at the car show) that the tailgate splits up into the top part (window) and bottom part which opens up like a truck tailgate, so you can sit on it. The earlier generation X5 (not the E70, but the E53) had that as well, nice to see they went back to it.

Enjoy the new beast![/QUOTE]

My 2011 X5 does this, all that I've seen do as well.

Interesting, am I the only one that see the front with one side having working vents and the other side fully blocked?

It has been discussed before. Many of us don't care for that aspect of the Msport front bumper.

Holy crap you're right - I've had the X6 (never an X5) so I thought it was the same. Will edit my comment, don't want to put mis-information out there.

Thanks!

You can. At least in Europe.

If perforated, the leather in the middle is less soft. I will take nappa mocha (still thinking about ventilated seats) though dealer model in the salon already has visible marks on the drivers side (left bottom part of the seat).

Dealer tells me it is because people go into this car with their buts first and put pressure on the sides awesome answer/excuse.

Intresting to see how much more premium the F15 got from the E70, specially the interiour.
Don't get me wrong, i love the E70, but it wasn't very luxurious inside.
Now, the E83 was a disaster, but the F25 isn't that much of an improvment interiour wise either, in fact the F25 is pretty boring and mid end at best.
Strange, makes my hope for the X4 not that high, having seen the premium product the F15 is.

I'm so confused, when you build it on BMWUSA.com, you can't combine the Mocha Nappa leather with sport package. How did you get the Mocha Nappa and ///M sport package together? Online build won't allow it.

Doesn't everyone get into their cars, butt first? LOL

I wonder how many people believe the sales guys.

I was also on the fence with the ventilation option as it most likely has marginal benefit for the $500 ... In the end I figured it was probably worth it for long drives in CA summers - plus I do like the perforated look.

Excellent ride indeed. I spy LR4 in the garage.

Checked out the new build this past weekend the nav screen is huge.

The local BMW dealer only had 4 X5s and all 35i same equip level and just over 60k

Had the 50i for a couple of days now and thoughts are that the car is so steady, I feel like I'm doing 20 when I'm really doing 50 on local roads.

Gas mileage is worse than I thought. I'm getting about 11mpg with half highway and half local and without a heavy foot on the gas.

There is definitely a lot of power when you do step on it.

Appearance was a lot nicer in person on the M Sport. Big different from the X line.

Probably my #2 on the dislike list behind the rear of the car. I think that huge fake plastic cover looks terrible and will only look far worse once the inevitable black plastic fade sets in. Last gen my X5 M Sport had functional ducts on both side and looked fantastic. This is just horrible.

Let's hope they get their heads out of their ass once the LCI comes around.

On the 50i, the right side is vented and functional.

Hey guys, here's my writeup after driving 100 miles with the F15 beast.

One quick note about the "Hold" -- the Hold (according to my dealer) was BMW NA's hold on the 50i which was 11/8.

After I got the text it was on the truck headed to BMW of Encinitas, I hit the road. 2 hours later...I got the keys. Get ready for a heavy key. There's a nice titanium border so no more chips on the 'ole plastic key fobs.

Front to back...BMW nailed it. Grill is mean; the "stance" in real life is true to the forum responses...you need to see it in person. My initial response to the Napa Mocha interior was wow. Seats are a vast improvement on my M5 (Yes) -- side bolsters hug you...Napa leather is just unreal. Once in the cockpit, the feel for the F15 gets better. LED's add a nice touch. Pretty fun to play with the different color combos. H/U display includes much more than '13 MY (tel + media now!). Ceramic controls are mint...touch screen iDrive controller is awesome for entering the nav. You can also swipe up/down.

My drive home was late at night so I haven't opened it up...and won't for the first few hundred miles. It does have that nice "pull" when you give it some throttle. Different driver mode(s) are easy access next to the shifter...Sport is a nice balance -- tightens up steering dampener and gives you more power at the floor.

Now to some pictures of the beast...

A final thanks to Darren, Ray and Ronaldo @ BMW of Encinitas.
Absolutely stunning. I've had a dark graphite x-line on order with ivory nappa for while... and I'm about to change to black with mocha

A few questions for you, if I could?

1. What trim is that? "Regular" aluminum, or hexagon? Can you take a closer picture or two?

2. How's the trim wearing?

3. Is that Black Sapphire or Jet Black? Hard to tell from the pictures if it's solid or metallic...

4. You said that the seats were Sport, but they look like the Comfort/Multi contour?

5. Did you get the Dynamic Handling Package? Thoughts?
