Headlights
I really regret not getting the LED light option. Couple questions:
Does anyone have pics of the standard xenon headlights? It's the same exterior right? Only the bulbs and light intensity is different right? Do you think there will be an upgrade in the future? My car arrives 5/10 . So excited.

Xenon light picture below.

I would ask the dealer if you can change out the light housing to LED lights. I don't know if there are voltage difference and/or other mechanisms that are different, but if it's just the light housing only, then you can simply buy the LED light housing and change it out...although that might be expensive. Congrats on the X5! Can't wait to see it! Post pics! Z. |

Okay phew, I'll stick to the standard xenons for now and upgrade in the future. I wish I checked it off in the first place. Oh well, I'm still super happy and excited.
And yes! Will definitely post pics. I have so many parts already waiting hehe |

There's been a post somewhere on the 5 series forum re: face-lifting - some guy installed LED headlights instead of xenons and also changed the back ones. So I reckon it's also doable on the F15, but will cost...

To me also, there is a big difference in my older (2011 X5) xenon and the LED I have now (2014 X5) especially on the road. I don't know what they are rated at (if anyone knows it would be a good time to speak up) but it is definitely brighter and more of a blue color.

After being screwed by BMW and my dealer on the 2011 X5 (I knew full LED angel lights were coming to replace the ugly yellow ones so I kept delaying my order until the dealer told me they talked to BMW and the LED angel would take several months to come out so I ordered. Guess what? Two weeks after I got my 2011 with yellow lights the LED angel lights were released) on my F15 the first option I picked was the full LED package. I couldn't be happier.

I also ordered the xenon instead of the LED. Trust me, I debated about it for a long time but decided to use my $1,900 to get something way more useful to me: ACC. From what I read there is not that much difference in the brightness level. The LED looks nicer and theoretically lasts longer than xenon. I think you should just use the xenon until a few years later and then consider replacing them, if costs are not excessive.
