There's some confusion re production dates shown on the bmwarchive site i.e. build start or build complete?. I contacted them directly and was told that the dates they quote are the build completion date though I'm still not convinced. I don't think any UK bound X5's are sent on the W&W ships now, the only RHD cars on W&W seem to be heading to other countries. I think UK bound X5's are shipped by K Lines. No tracking facility is provided on K Lines public website. Enjoy your new X5!

Crap. Was told by dealer today that production is pushed back to August, meaning delivery not likely until late Sept or early October. This seems crazy to me given my April order date. Guess bright side is that mine will now be 2015 MY. |

My order was delayed 4 weeks, frustrating to say the least but well worth it when the car arrives....I love the F15 |

Finally, after what seems like ages (well it has been 3 months since order), my F15 has finally clicked into build this week and expected delivery date to the dealer has come forwards a week to last week of July
@CatFlap, it definitely looks like our cars will be sharing a boat on the way over. Just awaiting the VIN from the dealer to be able to see what I can find out about it. |

Is there a site to lookup the complete vehicle VIN? The dealer has confirmed the complete VIN to me and what they gave as the last 7 chars is 'correct' as far as I can see. What should the start of the VIN be for an F15 40d SE? Last edited by NPickles; 06-11-2014 at 05:21 AM.. |

As an example, if you look up VIN 0J43940 you'll see that it's a car reported as in production today, if you then increment the last digit until you get to the car which reprts as an old 5 series (or similar) the VIN previous is the last one on the production line. When it gets up to yours BINGO! I notice that WBAKS620600K77316 was built on 9/6/14 - no more in that series of VIN's for 40d.

e.g. WBAKS420000J43941 new VIN (X5 40d 2014) WBAJW780020J43941 old VIN (could be some 80's BMW) i.e. last 7 digits recycled though the whole VIN's are still unique.

Thanks @CatFlap, I had just come to that conclusion myself. 77335 shows up as an F15 40d with a production date of today so mine is nearly there, just 21 to go |

Hi, fair point! It's very tempting to stray along the tick box.
