They are pricey, but a common failure point.

I am guessing it get pretty sweltering down in Texas? The heat is brutal on these assemblies, I am certain.

Brakes applied itself while I was driving. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any known fix?

Hello guys I recently did my valve cover gasket and I'm noticing a gas smell at when I come out of the garage and when at a stop light.

Checked all fuel lines I don't see a leak. But I do smell gas next to the injector/spark plug area. I also changed the spark plugs (tighten them to spec), ignition coil, cabin filter, air filter. Boost also seems low at about 5psi a WOT. Any help would be appreciated.

All four of my soft close doors don’t function. Is there a reason all of them would stop working or could all for actuators or cables have failed?

I coded in soft close for the gate and that works just fine.

I would double check that something didn't get switched when you coded the soft close tailgate. But if everything looks good, then it could be that the cables are broken. 3 of my 4 doors were messed up when I bought my X5 and the dealership fixed it no problem.

If cables are broken then you should be able to hear the motor function if you close the door to the first latch step on each door. I replaced both my actuators on front doors and they both quit within two weeks but did have the motor functional. The crimp cable end broke on both of them. Both my vack doors are still fine but I did get the actuators already for the day they quit. I think there is a mod to cble length as the new ones have an easier bend between motor and door latch.

I don’t get any noises, sounds, or anything of the like when I close any door to the first detent. It makes me wonder if they’re somehow deactivated or coded off, but I can’t find any evidence that they can be activated/deactivated through coding.

Go back and check your connections for the fuel system, you really don't want there to be a leak there

Well, the Navigation system took a major crap, now Bluetooth doesn't work

At 101,700 miles I developed my first coolant leak

I also had to replace the oil pan because the drain bolt just kept spinning (no fault of my own, I hand tighten them only but I bought it used)

Oh yeah, I have to replace my valve cover too, its whistling so I've got the parts for it sitting in front of me.

What else? Oh, overhauled the front suspension components with exception to the struts, which now need replacing and I'll also have to do the the entire rear suspension as well. Fun times!

2017 50i - upper oil pan gasket leak at just 34K miles. The dealer retail cost to repair was north of $5000. My SA got BMW to goodwill 85% of the cost due to the failure at such low mileage.

Tire Pressure Monitor (RDC) failure

Hi everyone,

I have a warning on my X5 2015 xDrive35d: Tire Pressure Monitor (RDC) Failure. The warning occurs frequently. After the reset, it doesn't appear for a while, but it appears again soon. I checked the tire pressure manually and all tires have the correct pressure.

Is it a malfunction of one of the sensors in the tires or is it some other malfunction?

Thanks.

Is $1800 a fair price for replacement of motor mounts? This is a quote from an indie shop, where the BMW service dept quoted me $2250. The BMW tech said "they are both collapsed"

I only ask because I googled around and see a price range of $800-$3000 depending on where I look.

I havent noticed any problems but then again I didn't really have a gauge of whats a 'normal' level of vibration from the engine. I have the diesel engine so I expect some vibration. Anyone have any advice on whether or not I can just leave this be for a while or should they get replaced ASAP?

Dear All,

I have a 2014 F15 4.0D. I have had some oil losses from small turbine. The service company, which is approved by BMW, recomanded to refurbish the small turbine. They have replaced some other parts also. Now the car doesn't pull as it did before, the acceleration is much slower, sometimes in frames(shocks). Also , I can hear a small whistling noise , like the air is absorbed every time i accelerate.
Any ideas please ?
Also, can i find anywhere what are the normal pressures that my turbines should produce?

Thank you very much in advance!

I have a 2017 build F15 X5.

In an attempt to replace the SOS system battery myself I damaged the Telematics unit situated under the Shark Fin.

I am looking to replace the old unit with a second hand one. But cannot find one with the exact same part number. Can I replace this with another part which physically looks the same but has a slightly different number?

I do realise that it will have to be coded.

TIA

I would suggest that you check the oil pump.

1800 is excessive if its a 6-cylinder. If it's the 8-cylinder then that's a typical. For the N55 engine, I got quoted 1300 from the dealer to replace the engine mounts.

Hello guys,
I have a 2015 BMW X6, 4.4L engine, I have 82k miles on it, and I have a check engine showing drivetrain malfunction and the car shakes. I replaced all 8 injectors and spark plugs, but the problem persists, missfire and low compression on 7th cylinder, anybody has any suggestions?

TPMS Problem

I just bought a 2014 X5 35i with 49,750 miles on it and had a TPMS malfunction message both while test driving and then when driving car home from the dealer. After my test drive a day prior to purchase I mentioned the malfunction message, but when I picked it up the next day they told me it was fine, had been taken care of with adjusting tire pressures and a reset. Then I got the malfunction message again while driving it home.

I took it to the BMW dealer for evaluation/repair and was told it was the right front sensor, which was replaced. I was also told the other 3 sensors were fine, although there were error codes for the receiver, saying to replace it. The receiver was not replaced since 3 of the sensors registered. Regarding the receiver error code, the tech said they are often wrong, and since 3 sensors worked, he didn't see a need to replace the receiver.

Should I be concerned about the receiver?

Did you check the gap on the spark plugs?
