As far as I can work out they're completing between 25 an 30 European spec. RHD X5's (chassis numbers starting: WBAKS42...) per day. The last car reported yesterday (9th) has VIN ending 43896 and they seem to have done 27 so far today.

At this rate mine should be coming down the production line in 40 hours time!

All interesting stuff isn't it?

Spartanburg built 13603 X5's in April 14 - about 485 a day in all of the different configurations to be sold worldwide. I guess RHD is a very small proportion of that total!

The KS42 is the 30D Europe RHD so you're not counting all UK X5's there but that is certain to be the most popular variant.

It says Europe but it must refer to all RHD countries as there is a 35i version down as RHD Europe and it doesn't get sold in the UK - must be Australia or south Africa etc.

Damn, it's good to know there are people out there as obsessive as I am.

I've had my 30d for six weeks now and it's the most 'in love' I've been since I met my wife (and I still am mor in love with her, for the record, just on the off-chance she stalks me on the inter-web-thingy).

My spec is on the site if you search but the best bits...

ACC - wow, what I had been waiting for!
Adaptive LCD (Euro spec) - wow, what I had been waiting for!
Fuel consumption (coming from a 4.4 V8) - wow, what I had been waiting for!
Performance (coming from a 4.4 V8) - wow, what I had been hoping for! (No noticeable difference in sport mode)

Yes, good point @MJF120 though the cars appear to be built sequentially based on their VIN and mine is in this batch, so they're the ones I'm interested in It would be great to be able to fully decode the first part of the VIN - is this possible?

The build data available on the internet is probably second or third hand so might be prone to errors but it's all we have to work with I guess.

Have you got your order number? It might be on your paperwork from dealer confirming spec etc...

if not, ask dealer for it then ring 0800 325 600 and ask for an order update they're very helpful.

Ring the 0800 number mentioned above they'll confirm the status of your order (at least you'll know if the dealer is giving you BS) I use the 0800 all the time - don't bother with the dealer!

What is your spec is it 40d?

Summary!

Just to clarify my findings on production:

This is all theory and is open for discussion!

There's possibly one RHD production line making all variants of X5's for all RHD countries. (all different engines)

The VIN numbers are released in 'batches' e.g.

30d current batch started at around 0J43000 (06-05-2014) and is currently at 0J43947
40d current batch started at around 0K77100 (12.05.2014) and is currently at 0K77342

There are obviously other variants intermingled with the 30d's and 40d's all being built in order of their allocated VIN ranges - I suppose this might explain why the rate of production of a particular variant is somewhat variable!

0J43885 booked with W&W shipping today, only built two days ago. Booking details say it should depart for Brisbane on 16-06-2014 I'll keep an eye on it.

@worsy thats great news! your VIN is close to @NPickles his 40d is: 77356 - looks like the three of us might share a ship to Southampton!

Keep an eye on:

http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

Put the 7 digits of the VIN in there, when your vehicle details show up (rather than an old 80's 5 series (which is normal before your X5 is built)) you're in business!

I notice that the example you found on w&w shipping was heading for Brisbane. Have you find many heading to the UK? My X5 never showed on their site and I'm not sure many people in the UK have been able to track with w&w. In my case I'm fairly certain mine shipped with another carrier but I don't know how many UK deliveries that applies to.

No, none bound for UK seen recently on W&W, it seems lots of other RHD X5's still are though.

I think they're shipped to the UK via "K Lines" now (no on-line Track n' Trace facility) This is why all the UK X5's 'disappear' until they arrive at Southampton!

Current K Lines schedule is attached.

MY2015 UK configurator

My dealer thinks it is MY2014.5 rather than 2015.
UK members this is giving me a headache, based on the quote by worsy are we saying that if heated seats are standard I'm looking at the MY2015 configurator and build. I sat down with a dealer just two weeks ago and specifed my choice/options on the dealer configurator and heated seats are standard yet the brochure he gave me clearly states they are an option. I guess the question is how can you tell if you are going to get a MY2014 or a MY2015?. confused.dot.com

From April 2014 Build 494 heated front seats are standard as is 5AS Driver Assist and 2VB Tyre pressure monitoring.

The brochures and website are usually out of date - go by the dealers configurator and nothing else.
