Introduction new X5 owner
Hallo All,
Firstly, let me introduce myself. I live in Europe (central part) and I am happy F15 30d owner (I believe this is 35d in the US). Before - had E70 and more before E60. I have been reading this forum for couple of months. I do appreciate you input. This is outstanding. This is how this kind of forums should work! The car is wonderful. Driving is so smooth. I am not a big fan of diesel but this diesel is not driving like diesels I know. Maybe it is somehow tuned for the US market to make diesel more popular ;-) By the way - do you have an idea if the sound inside the car is real and not-real (I mean somewhere from the sound system)? I am asking as this really does not sound like diesel (it sounds rather like v8 ;-) My configuration is called in the US pretty loaded (I believe). I took Jet Black (great colour) and inside - Canberra Beige. One thing that could be interesting - I had extra quick delivery. I mean - from final order to taking from the dealer - about 5 weeks. What - as I read is rather unusual (I have 2015 model). So - I will remain mostly the reader. If you like to know something re: EU configuration - I would be more that happy to help! Best regards. Is the EU 30d equivalent to US 35d, anyone in the US, what's the performance figures for the 35d and how many turbos? In Europe we have 30d, 40d and 50d which are all 3 litre straight 6 lumps but 1, 2 & 3 turbos to increase performance. |

By the way, 5 weeks from order to delivery is outstanding and very unusual over here.
Did you add much to it, maybe your dealer had one in the works already and was able to change it to match your requested spec. 5 weeks is more like a US delivery time, over this side of the pond it's more like 5 months. |

both 30d/35d have a twin turbo which can be confused for dual turbos but in fact its only one turbo with some special mechanics in regards of the name, can be very confusing nowadays with BMW and there model nr:s etc, the 40d have two turbos.

Welcome TomEurope.
@paicapo and @wjbender, that is what I used to think (twin turbo) also. Later someone in the forum corrected me and pointed out that they call it "TwinPower" (marketing language) not Twin Turbo. I was trying to figure out the difference between 30/35d and 40d. No twins for us in the US

Thank you for your warm welcome!
Of course I will post the pics. I will do my best to post a few during the weekend. As regards 5 weeks - I was lucky (I believe :-) As soon as I decided F15 and talked to the dealer he told that they had the allocation for the production that was expected to start in the following week. And - if I make the decision shortly - I will have in 5-7 weeks. I quickly made the decision. The week after the car went into the production. 2 days from the production - it was loaded on the vessel. It was long wait when it was on the Atlantic. Probably you know - but for the EU customers - there is a page where you can check the status of the car since it is produced and check where exactly it is on the Atlantic. Best regards. T_E |

Welcome T-E, congrats and pleased that you enjoy.
The sound is piped in. http://jalopnik.com/5973177/this-is-...-by-a-computer http://www.caranddriver.com/features...ined-tech-dept Since you asked about Europe spec's. I asked my dealer about the part # for the side mirrors (wideangle/Aspheric, Auto Dim, Heated . They asked BMW Canada who then asked BMW Germany based upon my vin. I was informed that the part #'s are: 51 16 7 291 247 left & 51 16 7 291 248 right @$247 each. If you can confirm the part that would be appreciated. This price is reasonable as for F25 it is $638 each, crazy. Anyhow T_E don't be shy, post when you can, as we are here to share and learn. |

Thanks T_E for your response. I am pretty sure that the part # BMW gave me is correct, it takes 2-3 weeks from Germany. I was thinking that if a member from Europe can easily confirm that would be nice (as Wide Angle side appear to be standard ) In Canada available as accessory, USA not off assembly line (“ In the United States, regulations dictate that cars coming off of the assembly line must have a flat mirror on the driver's side. Curved mirrors are allowed for cars' passenger-side mirrors only if they include the phrase "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear.")
The pic that you kindly posted appears to be: for non-S430A (non-auto dip, heated. driver flat plane, passenger convex). What I have is S430A heated & auto dim/dip with non_Wide Angle. So I require S430A heated & auto dim/dip with Wide Angle Below attachment was posted by MattBianco, who also contributes on the other forum: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=808213. As you know North America is LH drive, unsure where you are exactly located Perhaps just ask your dealer next time you are there. If too much trouble its ok. I hope your family enjoys the F15 equally as much. |

Sorry T_E, I did not want to hijack your thread. But since you kindly offered, haven't seen that before so I strike when the iron was hot. As others stated post some pics when you are not putting miles on the car. We all love to see pics of new found joy.

The day finally came :-)
Here you are! The Pics! The dark and unfocused are just after ceramic maintanance of the exterior. Apologize - all of them done with the phone so the quality is not great. Future mods: 449 wheels (after the winter) and running bords (for better look). Enjoy! T_E |
