Looks like the dealer made a big mistake on my order
I went to the dealer yesterday to get a status on available dates for PC delivery. the CA said he confirmed the date I wanted, and printed out the build sheet with VIN. Late last evening I was reviewing the build sheet and noticed that the model specified is "15XG X5 xDr35i" with base MSRP of $55,500.
I ordered the diesel, but this sure does not look like a diesel to me. NOW WHAT - this car is already in production with a birthday of December 1. Am I screwed? will I lose my deposit if I refuse to take the vehicle. |

Not your mistake, deposit safe. They can make changes up to production. If it has started maybe too late. But if it has started, I would thing the completion date would be before Dec1. If the timeline seems odd, I assume you confirmed the start date. Maybe you have to wait again, hopefully soon, opportunity to rethink options. You would think there is at least one double check to ensure order is perfect.

I reviewed /signed that yellow paper he filled out an never thought to check that he was specifying an X 35D. Duh!! I don't want to lose my 2K deposit, but I will not accept an X 35i. I guess I'll hear from him tomorrow AM |

You will not lose your deposit. They will need to put a new order for 35d. It's not your mistake.

You'll be fine. Very few bad dealers in the BMW network and they are usually happy to adjust, replace, and work with you to get the car you want.

Sorry about your mix-up. It shouldn't be a problem. However, if they give you a hard time, just contact New2BimmerWorld for assistance on a good person to reach that can help you out since it is their fault. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=806766

I don't want to bad mouth the dealer - Let's see today how they handle it. If I get a runaround I am going shopping for a new dealer. Can anyone recommend a dealer in the NJ /NYC/PA/CT area that will sell at close to invoice. I can do an internet sale because I am getting PC delivery. All paperwork can be via FAX or email.
Thanks |

So the dealer said they are going to build another car for me and try to maintain the delivery schedule. No mention of the change in price from petrol to oil burner (about $1500). He has lots of room on price because I only got $3500 discount. I will ask him to honor the contract we have in place - let's see how that works out.

I think you meant JMK in Springfield.

Good news on the re-order. BMW seems to really take good care of their clients.
Good luck. Hope they can still get it to you on the original delivery date.

I asked the CA if he wanted me to come in to sign new contract. He said "not necessary" I am holding my breath for when he figures out the contract needs to increase by $1500 for the diesel!!!!! I plan to say honor the contract in place because he only gave me $3600 off of MSRP of $73,715

Well I finally settled with my dealer. He admitted the mistake and said that they do not currently have a diesel to sell me. I will get the next allocation he has in December for a production date in late Jan or early Feb. I'll post my final build and price in a separate post.

You can ask for a loaner car meanwhile. Also, they can swap production slots with other dealers, and that is more likely if you are driving their loaner car. |
