WARNING Broken down vehicle ahead!

Drove to work the other day and I hear the bling sound, instant reaction, what is it now , HUD displayed and enormous warning sign saying broken vehicle ahead 1 km. Made the turn on the highway, was starting the turn when the warning was flagged (couple of metres before I made the turn) and after approx. 1 km there was an S-class mercedes (brand new model), on the side of the highway and an official highway security car with light signalization and all. Was impressed with the whole thing, I imagine that on a highway in the night to get some extra warning it can be useful. Thought I'd share. All happened too quick for a photo.

Cheers.

As you say its impressive stuff. I have found though on the one occasion I got the warning sign saying the motorway was closed and don't enter it was actually the opposite carriageway that was affected and not the one in my direction.

Its clever use of technology but could use some fettling!

No! That was the fun part Navigation was not on. Just driving to work, no coordinates set up. It did happen before i made the turn which made me think if "it" knows i am going to take that turn to work (which i have done in the past). I do have some security package that includes tightening of seatbelts as well as notifying you to take a break if it seems you are tired, etc.

This has happened to me a couple of times, it’s a navigation function that monitors local traffic information via RSS feeds or similar. And it comes on even if you are not using navi also, i think it’s the option "real time traffic assistant"

Cool...

Hm...I guess this must be the RTI (6AM code) function.
I de-selected this in the last minute to use the monnies for something else.
But the seller told me the system would use many sources for info - incl other cars passing nearby
(BMW's with a similar system - or other makes too, I don't know) to gather info. Quite impressive indeed!
This is one example of the techies BMW is good at

Real Time Traffic Info (RTTI) is really impressive in most cases, traffic jams are real time. Last time I used it from the city centre in rush hour to the city outskirts (sorta), was amazed the routes that it used. This car broken vehicle msg, navi direction was not on.

I wonder if that means it could be coded back into USA vehicles.

Bent, do you pay extra for RTI? It's standard in UK.

Ah, yes.
But not much, something like usd 200 extra IF the ConnectedDrive option is already there.
That sum include a 3 year RTTI plan I read, maybe that is what we actually pays for then...probably :-)
