Worn steering wheel

Hi guys new here so I apologise if this has been covered already somewhere. I have an f15 and the steering wheel has significant wear on it. It’s as if the top (glossy) coating has worn off and it now has full patches. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Unfortunately that's just the quality of the steering wheels. You can source a pre-made wrap to re-trim or buy a new wheel skeleton that's been re-trimmed. No other fixes really to be honest.

Or send the wheel off for repair. There are some old threads for steering wheel recovering. It cuts across multiple BMW forums since multiple models share the same steering wheels.

Take note that the OP is in the UK. There's gotta be a steering wheel re-fabricator on his side of of the globe.

1. Replace the wheel with new/used in good condition from eBay.
2. Re-wrap the wheel on top of existing leather.
3. Find professional who can rip off original leather and re-wrap it.

There is, Royal steering wheel. A few members of a 5 series forum I used to frequent were happy with their work.

If you have a regular steering wheel it may be the perfect opportunity to install a M Sport one.

Thanks for your comments guys. I have found a leather repair kit I’m thinking of trying. If not it may have to be a new wheel as suggested
