Bluetooth media will stop playing randomly - '16 X5

I have a 2016 X5 35i with an aggravating issue. I can connect my Pixel 6 phone to Bluetooth and play music, but after a few minutes the music will stop playing (makes no difference if you turn volume up or down). Idrive shows the phone is still connected, and the phone shows it's still connected to the car. I just did a software update from the BMW website, no change. I have rebooted my phone a few times, no change. Anyone have a similar issue or fix?

Sometimes it's just a certain phone acts up. I had a phone that did the same. Issue went away when I upgraded.
Biggest issue is the sound delay. That's aggravating.

I have just purchased a late 2015 X5 30D F15 and I am having the same issue using a Pixel 6. Have tried updating iDrive software, rebooting Pixel, deleting the phone and then reconnecting via bluetooth. Nothing works. Am considering installing a BimmerTech Android Auto MMI Prime retrofit - an expensive solution unfortunately.

I think I found a fix.

Enable developer settings (if you don't know how, I'm sure you will find a easy step by step guide with a quick Google search)

Settings -> System-> Developer options -> Bluetooth AVRCP version -> Select 1.3 or 1.4 (it is defaulted to 1.6)

I went to 1.3 and have had no issues since. Still doesn't display album artwork from Spotify, but no dropout of songs even when switching between Spotify, Youtube, etc.

For streaming music, I enjoy Tidal much more than Spotify.
