2016 x6 - Do I need wheel spacers?
I’m shopping for a set of winter tires and wheels and the person who sold me his (it’s a 19” 255/50/19 square setup) claims that I need spacers. My car came with 20” staggered tires so the new ones will likely look off, but do I really need the spacers or are there only for aesthetics? The new wheels and tires are OEM pulled from another f16 x6.
I don’t care for aesthetics, if it looks ridiculous, but I want the setup to be safe. |

Spacers are only used for aesthetics. You would be fine with the 255 all around.

According to BMW, "the style 623M Winter Complete Wheel set for the F16 X6. This performance inspired 19 inch wheel set is fitted with BMW Approved cold weather tires to make sure you get the most out of this winter driving season."
The 623M Winter set is: "Wheel Set Dimensions Wheels: Style 623M Front: 9Jx19 ET48, Rear: 9Jx19 ET18 Tires: Pirelli Scorpion Winter r-f* Run-Flat 255/50R19 107V XL” (only mentioned because you can see many examples of the 623M on F16’s online) and the 594 set is: "9JX19 ET:48 Part Number: 36116858872 Supersession(s): 36-11-6-858-872” They appear to be the same size, just a different style. If you want to see the 623M on a F16 w/out spacers to see what it looks like I will post a pic or two of mine if i can find them. I know they’re different wheels, but it will give you an idea of what the size/offset will look like, I think a 5mm spacer would help the aesthetics a bit.

Here are some pics of my F16 with the same size as you have, different style. Also included is pics of the 469M wheels on the same vehicle, I took these shots to determine if I wanted spacers or not. I hope this helps.

You don't need spacers, and it would only be for aesthetics.
I believe the 623M set has a more aggressive rear offset (the rear is ET18 not ET48 all around), and that's why the wheels look so flush without spacers. I have 467M without spacers for my X6, which has the same offset for all 4 rims. The drive is fine, but the rear fitment could be improved. I don't have any nice photos of how my car looks with 467M wheels, but it is the same look as the white X6 (the one getting the M performance aero upgrades installed) pictured in this gallery: https://www.buddsperformance.com/gal...es/bmw-x6-x6m/. Notice how the rear tires are not as flush with respect to the rear fender. Last edited by x6spacegrey; 11-21-2019 at 09:41 AM.. |

I run that size squared for my winter set-up, I have not had issues with nor without spacers. I prefer the spacers from an aesthetics standpoint but they are not required.
