F15 BDC/Fuse Box Access

Does anyone know how to access the fuse box that contains fuses No. 1 to 14 on a LFH 2014 X5? The fuse box diagram that comes with the car shows that this fuse box (also called Body Domain Controller or BDC) is buried somewhere on the exterior side of the passenger footwell under the carpet. Can someone share photos or a video of how to get to that box properly without ruining the carpet?

Do you need to access fuse 1-14 or do you need to do something to the BDC (body domain controller) which is a control module?

The fuse nbrs that you mentioned are built into the BDC...so use the instructions RED_Y_ posted to access either fuse 1-14 or the BDC.

See additional pics below for the location of f1-f14 (fuse 1- fuse 14) that are in the BDC module:

A258=BDC

Item Explanation
1 Body Domain Controller (BDC)
2 54‐pin plug connection
3 54‐pin plug connection
4 54‐pin plug connection
5 54‐pin plug connection
6 12‐pin plug connection
7 54‐pin plug connection
8 42‐pin plug connection
9 Right fuse
10 1-pin plug connection
11 Left fuse
12 54‐pin plug connection
13 42‐pin plug connection

Thank you RED_Y_ and Qsilver7 for the detailed instructions.

The reason I need access to the BDC is to check Fuses number 3, 7, and 12. My car suddenly stopped detecting both of my keys (both have new batteries) and I need to check all the fuses that are associated with door locking/unlocking (3, 7, 12, 19, 126, 134, 155, 156). I checked all the ones in the fuse boxes under the dash and in the trunk but I need access to the BDC in order to check 3,7, and 12.
Some had suggested on other forums that there might be a blown fuse associated with the diversity antenna.
Once I gain enough confidence and order some backup clips, I'll attempt the instructions RED_Y_ posted and see how it goes.

Ahhh...thanks for the update. If you do get to those fuses and find that they are all still intact...I remember a thread not to long ago where the remote keys lost the ability to remotely lock/unlock and the issue ended up being the remote control receiver. It is mounted on the right side of the cargo area behind the panel.

It is A203 in the illustration below...and there was also a video on youtube that showed how to access & replace it:

Did you accidentally put the remote batteries in upside down? May want to check that.

I know this is an older post but I find I might beed to replace fuse #10 I see its in the BDM but is that required to be removed to replace the fuse? is it on the top side of the BDM facing center of car or on the bottom requiring to to be removed from the bracket?

thanks

Richard

did you gain access to the fuses? was it necessary to remove the controller from the bracket or do they face out towards center of car?

thanks

Richard

You don't need to remove the controller to replace the fuse, they are facing out. Just remove paneling to gain access to it.

thanks for that just pulled it and its fine so now that leaves bad wiring or relay based on the ISTA error code 80434A. But I believe the F15/16 don't have relays they incorporate these functions into the BDC if I am reading this right, sounds like it will be expensive to fix. Where I live I don't care if I have it or not as its never cold here. But I want to update my HU and EVO to latest versions using Esys and read somewhere that you can't have module errors to do this?

thanks RED_Y_ for the reply,

yea, our cars have a BDC in place of an FEM. Serves a similar purpose.
