Rattle when idling

Hey guys.

Wondering if this is a common issue:

When idling, I'm getting a very noticeable rattle.
Doesn't happen all the time. Certain idle (up to operating temps)
If I increase the revs a tiny bit, she goes away.

Sounds like a an exhaust rattle maybe ? Or maybe a trip underneath ?
I can hear it from the cabin with all windows up.
From the outside, it is very noticeable.

Just wondering if anybody else has had this and if a common thing.
Engine is the 30D/35D

Cheers guys.

Metal vibration or other? Need a lot more specifics to be able to really help you troubleshoot.

My plastic air intake ducts like to rattle at idle once my rig is warm. Have not addressed but I’m thinking a little felt tape.

Mmm more plastic then metal..hard to say
It's not tinny at all...almost sounds like the diesel engine rattle lol but just way louder

Seems to be coming from under the engine/tyranny arrw ?

What about the running boards or lower plastic body trim? I have the M-sport and on my last oil change I noticed several plastic retaining clips missing.

You may have loose underbody panels as well. They are held in place by a mix of small plastic nuts and metal screws. Service centers remove those panels for service items like changing the diesel fuel filter. Not all techs will take the time to replace them all.

Last thing I can think of would be wheel well liners. Check they are secure.

With the car running, you should be able to wiggle around underneath without having to put it on lift. You really need to isolate the area of the sound then apply pressure and wiggle things to see if that changes vibration pitch or stops it altogether. Good Luck and share what you find!

Thanks Clifton

most likely I'll need to visit my mates shop and lift her up while on and start pin pointing the sound.

just thought it was a common issue or a known issue with some trim or bracket.
fingers crossed it ain't engine mounts causing any rubbing !
