156,000 kms. No issues yet. I ran a tuning box for a couple years so the increased blowback pressure would have created more soot. There was also a recall on the cooler which was a replacement. Here is what i have been reading...

Higher SAPS oils and aggressive driving patterns will also contribute to the buildup.

I did some research that an oil capture can might reduce the carbon buildup and it is a relatively inexpensive solution. However, you have to drain them periodically and the gunk might freeze in cold winters. I have also read that there are some oil capture cans that have filters in them which can capture more of the gunk.

I am going to do EGR/ SCR delete, since it is about the same cost of getting it serviced after the failure. I have had VW diesels that required lots of work to the intakes and valves when the buildup occurs and you cannot use solvents.

I am the second owner of a 2014 35d currently at 118k miles. Just got the CEL and ran the codes. The EGR A and B coolers are having efficiency issues. Seems like there is still no long term fix for this issue. Anyone else got news on this issue or are these cars just doomed by the EGR?

By the way, I mostly drive freeway miles.

Codes are P241F, P2457, 29EB00, 2B7200

That's what's available to my diesel. They will probably do one for yours too.

That is a great idea, and I would like too, but would be illegal in California.

Problem found, vacuum line going to the EGR cooler was damaged by chaffing. Pretty large hole had formed from rubbing on the engine. I recommend taking a look at the vacuum line that runs under or beside the swirl flap actuator.
