Can I extend CPO Warranty?

My 2014 CPO Warranty is ending in May 2020. Can I buy extension from BMW dealership? I'm mainly worried about engine, last I've heard it's $30k for long block and about $10k for labor. I won't be able to fork $40k out of my pocket if something happens.

There are other options besides the dealer. A used engine could be put in for under 10k. But why buy a bmw if you're so worried about its reliability?
I have 115k miles and have only done normal maintenance.

You can extend through bmw a CPO vehicle only if its original factory warranty still hasn't expired.

Thank you. Do you mean 3rd party warranty? Can you recommend one from your experience?
I see you have 35i and I have no doubt 115k miles is nothing for n55 engine you have. I also have 528xi 2009 with n52 (if I'm not mistaken) and I have no warranty as I'm not at all worried about that one. It's a workhorse. I like it.

I am indeed worried about 50i, and I just want to have a piece of mind with some warranty. I checked prices for long block and it's $30.5k. I hope dealer can put re-manufactured engine if something happens for $10k like you said, but knowing their prices I highly doubt it to be honest.
As for private shops that can just replace n63tu with another one, I did a search and used n63tu engines are at about $10k and about $5-6k labor. The problem is I haven't seen any shops that are reputable enough to trust the swap (if God forbid something happens with engine out of warranty). I've read couple threads about swap and they all had some issues down the road: one with faulty "refurbished" engine and another due to swap issues (glitchy electronics and leaking gaskets). It might be just me, but BMW warranty would be ideal. I haven't asked dealer yet if extension of CPO is even possible. I'll let you guys know when I find out.

My 2014 CPO is ending in May 2020. Do you think I can extend my CPO for another several years?
Thank you

If your cpo warranty runs out on may 2020 then I think your original factory warranty ended on may 2019 which means you won't qualify for BMW's extended warranty your only option is a 3rd party warranty.

Thank you for clarifying! I'm guessing I should indeed look for 3rd party warranty then.

I am quite certain you can extend though BMW while the CPO is still in effect.

Cassandra Castro @ MB Milwaukee / BMW has the best price in the country by far when I shopped a few month ago. ccastro@iamilwaukee.com

You can also look for 3rd party policy as well although I would stick to BMW policy.

I see some engines on ebay for around 6 to 7k. So you could probably have one installed for 10k or less. And the odds of needing an engine are what? Less than 1%. Whereas a warranty is a guaranteed few thousand spent.

No you cannot get extended bmw warranty if your original factory warranty has expired cpo or not this is something they're very strict with even if your a day late they can't do it out of goodwill its corporate policy.

I'd suggest calling and confirming. When we bought our 2016 in September we were offered an extension of the CPO warranty. I didn't feel like paying for sixth year that used to be included in CPO.

I'm scheduled to go in for regular oil change and such this Monday, so I'll ask my dealer to confirm it.

Also, if you join Bmw CCA, you can save 10-15% off parts and labor at dealer.
