Passenger Restraint System, Airbag fault
Does anybody know DYI fix for this issue ? Found error code 930922.
I've checked all connectors under front passenger seat for loose connection, broken wires, etc but did not find any possible culprit. Tried to clear errors but would not clear, remove battery connection, unplug connector harness under passenger seat, reconnect power and tried to clear error again but its not clearing. I've read multiple post about broken wires or the control module needing replacement which is probably going to cost an arm and a leg. anyone have a suggestion on what else to look for ? |

FYI;
I feel I need to share my bad experience with airbag issue, should there be anyone else having similar problem. X5 has been with Casey BMW since the 9th, initial diagnosis was the airbag control module. Errors in memory indicate more to a bad seat mat sensor (903922 and resistance value extremely high). I questioned their diagnosis but finally considered, said part/labor is going to be $2200. I chacked around cost of airbag control module is anywhere from $700+ to $1200. Finally got thru SA after 3 day wait and was told its still being worked on as they're now seeing different error codes. At this point, I begin to question myself why I'm getting repairs thru anew SA who is not even a technical person ( my SA of 10+ years left this dealership). I asked to talk to shop foreman or the tech. shop foreman called me today informing me that he himself worked on testing and looking for the problem and found it to be the airbag unit. I said no way it would be the culprit but I'm not there to actually see the test performed. Said the so called "swig" as he termed it ( 3 detonators or activators) should give resistance value of 3 ohms. Tech who did previous test did not test the 3rd swig which is hidden in back of airbag unit. I don't know enough of the airbag system and now very frustrated at for getting the runaround and given the repair cost to run as high as $3,300 because of the airbag being so costly Although he admits to mis-diagnosis, said they won't charge me cost of airbag control module. Have no recourse now because the dashboard was opened up to expose the unit, so were now in waiting mode till replacement arrives. I believe there's a shortage of experienced auto technician so were left at the repair shops mercy |
