Park assist questions

So ive had my 2018 for 1.5 years and I'm now just exploring the park assist. Either I don't know how to use it properly, or it doesn't work. I turn it on, drive past multiple spots to parallel and it doesn't do what I read it's supposed to do.

Where am I going wrong with this?

If I understand correctly you are talking about self parking/parking assistant feature, are you sure you have this feature? Parking Assist is not part of the DA+ package.

If you have the option...it will be discussed in the owners manual embedded in iDrive. If you don't have that option, it won't be there. The iDrive owners manual is VIN specific (not universally written like the paperback version).

You may also have an embedded video in iDrive, too. I recommend checking to see if either is there which could be helpful in figuring out how to use the feature.

The screen shot below is an example of some of the videos embedded in iDrive7...you can see there's one for Parking Assistance...again, check to see if you have an informational video in your version of iDrive that explains how to use the feature:

Lol yes I'm sure I have it, I've watched YouTube videos on how to use it and it's just not doing what it is supposed to. However after driving down the street a bit it would finally ping a spot to park, so maybe it's just very picky on what it thinks is a good spot.

I have it on mine and you have to hit the P button on the console next to the shifter first to tell it to start looking. I then drive past a spot and it tells you on the screen if it’s a good spot, shift to park, and follow the on screen directions to complete it. I love it.
