Opinion on Febi upper strut mounts?
Doing a front suspension refresh at 110k miles now, and now reconsidering re-using the original upper strut mounts.
BMW is about $180 each, Lemforder is listed as OE but out of stock most places and about $110. Found Febi-Bilstein mounts for only $36/ea from one of the bigger BMW parts sites and felt like a no brainer at that price to try them out Asking for reviews/opinions as these mounts are made in China, and historically Febi's reputation for good parts was when they were made in Germany. Could go to FCP for $56/ea for the amazing warranty, but if the Febi's last as long as they should, I probably won't have the car for another 100k miles and will never need the warranty to credit against Lemforder/BMW mounts if they fail early. Thoughts from the group? Last edited by JamesInSJ; 08-18-2023 at 11:28 AM.. |

I used URO strut top mounts over oem have been running them for 6 months just over 5k miles no issues. Purchased via bimmerworld for $36 a piece. At that time it was those or OEM. P/N: 31306851879.URO.
It’s a pretty simple metal cast piece with a rubber spring insert that I re-used from the oem ones. Just make sure you line it up correctly when you put it back in (pretty sure they only go in one way). The oem ones looked fine at 65k miles just some rust/build up over the years. Only reason I put new ones in was to avoid having to do the job all over if they failed. |

I replaced mine at 108k miles, but that was only because I didn’t want to have to deal with using a spring compressor. The rear shock mounts were like new, the fronts looked fine except for being dirty
