I've yet to confirm this with my dealer, but from the research I've done, the part number for the spare kit is..... 36110007376
Have a look at this page..... http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/36110007376/ |

It's a donut spare, but when you need it, you're not likely to be stuck somewhere where you desperately need a full size spare; that said I've drive off-road on the spare and it's fine. I've also done hundred of miles over the prescribed "50 mph" limit (80 mph). Fact of the matter is the donut is rated for 130 mph and the circumference difference between the donut and the full size tire is very minuscule there is no real problems for the drivetrain that I expect.
As I have third row seats, the spare just sits on the cargo floor. It's not strapped down or anything, but I've never had problems. It does not move. As for folks that have the spare, I do not believe it comes balanced at all, so be sure be get it balanced. You'll appreciate the difference if you should ever use it. Heads up, apparently if you want to install the M Performance Brake Kit, you need to get the F85 spare (with 19" donut) in order to clear the bigger brakes. Spare Installed!
After comparing a bunch of different sites, I ordered my Spare Saver Kit on GetBMWParts (item #PKE7071SPARE on their site) and picked it up in person (just outside of DC). The tire doesn't come mounted, but it does include the mounting bolt to secure it to the frame. My wife works at a dealership and had it mounted for free anyway. Bought the OEM tire tote to keep everything cleaner. The hardest part was finding that damn hole in the carpet to put the bolt! The push-pin trick worked perfectly but it still took some time.
If anyone is wondering, the shiny thing near the jumper cables is a foldable lug wrench from Advanced Auto. I have one in each car. I've used them many times and I love them! So much easier than the OEM wrench the Spare Kit comes with. Comes with 17mm for our bimmers, and also 19mm, 21mm, and 23mm: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/a...399d/9100415-P Last edited by Velocifero; 12-13-2016 at 07:37 AM.. |

I put mine in two weeks ago... Haven't bothered to perform the push pin trick yet, but I doubt it'll go anywhere. Not exactly light.

Very true. It was unsecured in ours for almost a week and I asked my wife (who drives it everyday ) to let me know if she hears anything, but she didn't never did. We didn't need it honestly, but since we had the bolt already, I figured why not. It may keep the tire from bumping into the stuff around it. Due to the angle, the orange road triangles in the upper left corner in my picture would snap in half if the tire bumped into it.

Haha, pretty much but there was some logic behind it. If you press down in the middle of the storage compartment, you can feel and see a slight bar running aft to forward. I figured it was on that, I knew it would be centered left to right, and from seeing where the tire rested in the compartment, I had a rough idea of where it would be. That said, the hole wasn't as obvious as I thought it would be. But once I found it, I used the little screwdriver the X5 comes with, a house key, and finally the butterfly bolt itself to make the hole fit properly. I can take a measurement if you'd like. I probably should have for future reference anyway.

I just ordered an ’18 X5 xDrive35i and plan to run 21” wheels and M-Perf. big brakes. I’m also swapping out the factory run-flats for non-run-flats as soon as the new vehicle arrives. I thus need/want the 19” (X5M F85) version emergency spare kit. I’ve been told it fits in the F15 storage space. I identified and ordered parts to make my own kit. 36116775450 - Emergency wheel, light alloy. 5BX19" ET:4 36121116326 - Rubber valve. L=42,5MM 71106786508 - 19" Trunk tray, emergency wheel Continental space saver spare tire - 155/80R19 (from Tire Rack) I already had the jack from my recently sold ’15 F15 X5 |

My X5 came with the spare kit, but I didn't want it, so I bought the carpeted interior trim and replaced it with that.
I'll let my spare kit go for $200 for local pickup in the SF Bay Area CA, which AFAIK is about half the cost of buying it elsewhere. PM me if interested. For anyone who's interested in going the other direction -- getting rid of your spare and replacing it with the carpeted interior -- the part number that worked for my X5 was 51-47-7-350-481. The fastening rivets you need are 51471911992. |
