Extending lease for a couple months?
Anyone here have experience extending their lease for just a couple months with BMW? My current lease on the X5 ends in June/July of 2018, I'd rather wait a few months and possibly get the new body X5.
-Did BMW honor same monthly rate? -Are any of you considering the RR Velar as an alternative? I know I'll be giving up about 100hp, but I am planning on getting an M3 next year and want to avoid 2 BMWs in the family. |

The process is pretty simple. Call BMW FS at 800-398-3939 and tell them you would like to extend your lease an extra Xmonths and they will adjust your lease-end date. Monthly payment should stay the same. You will probably end up paying for another year's worth of car registration. Some states will reimburse you the unused months but most will not.

yes you can do that and your payment will be the same. I've personally done this on my 3 series earlier this year before I returned it and I just had to call them and they were more then happy to do it for me. I dont know exactly how many more months they will do it but I did it for 2 months. GL

I did this with my last lease and BMW were happy to do that. They will also give you additional miles for the extension period.

I'm in the same situation as the OP. If I decide to get the 2019 X5, I will have to extend my lease. I'm open for other car brands but not sure if I like anything out there at the moment. I can also pick up a discounted 2018 model at that time but will probably kick myself for not getting the new one.

I am on exact same boat, except I probably won't extend mine, and to be honest I don't want a 1st year new model either. So maybe you can do other way around get a new X5 now (or find a 17 with a big discount) and use it for a bit over 2 yrs, pull ahead into new X5 in MY20. I am considering Q7 but to be perfectly honest, I really don't see myself as Q7 driver. Something just doesn't click. I prefer XC90 over Q7 but the amount of electronic issues on XC90 is a bit scary and annoying. My favorite is still X5 but I don't want to be one of those guys who are on E70 when I pull up my F15 next to them. Not hating but it sure feels weird.
