Remove Black Plastic Trim on Bumpers, side skirt and wheel arches

Hello, so I recently purchased an X5 xDrive50i. The one I purchased unfortunately didn't have the M Sport package or Dynamic Damper control. It's a "no line" x5 if I'm correct. I really do not like the look of the black plastic pieces on the bottom of the car. Does anyone know if I can just take them off and replace them ones painted in mineral white? If anyone knows the part numbers for the pieces it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide them. Here are pictures of the car so you can see what I'm talking about.

You would have to replace bumper covers and exhaust as well. Here is a kit to convert to msport body style.

Yeah I saw that I was hoping I wouldn't have to do a full conversion but looks like that's what I'll have to do. I'm gonna see if I can get the bumpers and skirts and then purchase an exhaust elsewhere. If I need a new exhaust I'd rather get something aftermarket with valve controls to be able to change the loudness.

Thanks.

Maybe take a look at the luxury line trim. It adds painted wheel arches, and body color panels on top of the black plastic pieces that hide probably 75% of the trim. Then you can keep your bumpers and exhaust.

I would be interested in this too. Where would you recommend getting a kit in Alpine White?

Don't know about a kit. Probably just have to order the various parts and get them painted and installed. Body shop is probably your best bet.

I did the exact mod 6 months ago (from xline to luxury line look). Bought the fender flares online through one of the sponsors here. Then took it to a local dealer and they matched the fender flares paint to my exterior. Paid $400 for the paint job alone but it was worth it. Good luck buddy.

Are the Luxury line wheel arch fenders flared or regular? Can't tell from the pics. I have a staggered setup and would prefer the flares.

If your x5 came with 20" wheels from factory then you'd get extended flares.

It came with 18s. I swapped them out for 20s but still have the factory fenders.

I already have regular so I'd get the flared ones. Just can't decide whether I want the painted flared fenders or the black plastic flared ones to match the "no-line" model bumpers.

Painted will cost more I am sure, but in my opinion will look better, especially on Alpine white. I have black plastic flares on my space gray x-line, and I wish they were painted...

You can play with the configurator to see the differences.

Can you post a few pics of the side and along the length so I can see how they look?

That actually looks really good! Thanks for the post.

What part numbers did you need for those exact wheel arches? Please

Don't know, they came from the factory. This site will get you to the part numbers.

I think the black plastic looks better on space gray as opposed to any of the whites. I?m going to end up just doing the m sport conversion. I?ll probably just do the front and sides first and then do the rear and exhaust together down the road.

Yes. But it also adds an element of black on the side profile. I don't quite mind it as much anymore. Here's a pic of mine with the non flared arches. Can't tell from the side on but the staggered setup definitely requires the flared arches imho.
