20" DWS as winter tires???
OK, here is dilemma. My X5 with M sport has 20" staggered setup with summer tires. Any people here can guarantee that replacing my tires with DWS will get me thru snow?
Honestly, having 315/35/20 tires (rears) makes me weary that it's waste of time and money to hope that any AS tire is good enough for snow (too wide). Any opinions? |

Will it get you by 1000x better than the stock summer tires - Absolutely
Is it the best tire you can get for winter - No really Is DWS enough for winter duties - That depends on how much snow you get and how often you have to drive in it. For me since i have dedicated summer wheels i am going full blown winter tires for my factory 20" wheels. NY is unpredictable when it comes to average snow falls but i want to be ready when that morning comes where I look at the window and its snowing hard. Alan

if your location (NE) is New England, Northeast, or Nebraska, if I were you I'd do the same as I am doing in NH (New Hampshire) ... get a dedicated set of Hakka R2s on 19" $1106 Non-Runflat $1064 Non-Runflat $1490 Runflat $1524 Runflat $1384 Runflat . |

Alan forget the snow, we're not in a big snow band and El Niņo will make winter a dud in NYC, but the potholes alone in the winter on ny streets and highways make it worth protecting those BBS babies and putting on 19s might be smarter.

I've went through last year's winter on my 20" staggered DWS set up. I had NO problem going through heavy snow we get over here. Maybe dedicated snow tires would run better, but honestly I haven't had any trouble with DWS and never felt the need for the snow tires.

I've went thru SNOW on RWD Cars with DWS lol heck for 2 winters. If our AWD BMW can't make it with DWS (good tread depth of course) I slapped on some 10/32 tread DWS 19's on my X3 last december and went thru the hell winter January all the way till first day of spring we had this past year. I also drove 94 miles from South Jerz on Feb 21st (remember guys the big snow storm) on the highway north.. Turnpike was bad so bad everyone was 45mph (middle lane) i had to get home so i made my own way (express/3rd lane) thanks to DWS got home safe. Try to get the DWS06 (Newer version of the DWS)

I put DWS06 (20 inches) on the X5, and I will stick with them through the winter. So far they have been good in the dry and the wet.
I put the original DWS on my M5 before last winter, and surprisingly, they were great through cold temperatures and snow. |
