2 carseats and an adult fit on rear seats or no?

I'm thinking adult in between carseats probably. Does anyone has experience with that?

Thank you, that's what I thought My mother in law is a large person, so that would be even more problematic haha
Time to sell my x5. I should have went for a 7 seater. Another option is to wait out until both kids will be old enough to sit without car seats - but that's not going to happen anytime soon lol
I also know that it's next to impossible to retrofit 3rd row - easier to change cars

How hard it would be to swap my x5 50i for same year/mileage x5 50i but with a 3rd row at a dealer? I have financing. Probably dealers will suck me dry on this swap? The thing is i know they won't take my car back for same money I bought it 3 months ago. I'll probably lose money on trade in and I'll lose money on buying 7 seater x5 - double loss? How much I'll end up in minus - like $5-8k?
Anyone know how it works and what's the best option in this case?

You might try shopping for slimmer car seats. There's a pretty wide variation in widths, and an inch or two can make a big difference.

i have two car seats in the 2nd row.. one is simply a booster, the other a highback booster (both graco) there is barely enough room between for my petite wife (5'0" 100lbs soaking wet) she can do it for a short trip, but agreed.. longer trips will be no bueno

It's a tight squeeze but doable and uncomfortable.

I'm a bit dissapointed, it's a 5000lbs SAV and there's less space on rear seats width wise than is some smaller SUVs like Murano for example (weighs 3900lbs and has wider rear seats if I'm not mistaken)
X5 is a largest BMW SAV available for now (x7 is still not out yet) and frankly they should have had more space in the rear - I mean not been able to seat 2 kids and an adult on the rear seat is so 80s

If you were worried about the space in the rear seat, you bought the wrong car. Call your mother in law an uber, LOL.

but, but..... it was touted as a family SAV Largest premium BMW SAV to date - do I have to wait for a X7 and pay $100k+ to be able to seat 2 kids and 1 adult? What the world has come to

P.S. Uber won't work - the whole point is to have an adult next to a infant to watch

P.P.S. and if I wasn't worried about rear seat space - then I should have bought x3 or x4 just as nicely. IMHO x5 is x5 because it's a mid-size SAV, not a tiny crampy car (or so I thought until now)

I would put one seat front facing and in the middle put rear facing, both the diono radian rxt and then behind the driver you will have enough comfortably behind the driver. I am taller 6-1 with wider shoulders and have no problem in the back with this set up. I dont run this way all the time since only when I have friends kids that are going with us somewhere.

Only a few carseats where this is possible comfortably. Diono radian R100 is probably one of the ones.

And remembered that the X5 only has 4 metal hook to latch your car seats..I've seen 6 hooks going across in some other SUVs

I think you can use the two middle hooks for the middle seats as well? We had 3 car seats in the back of my brothers X5.

This was while I was visiting my brother in Dallas in August. He has twin girls that are 5 in booster seats and my daughter was under 2 at the time. I think the hooks are wide enough that both buckles will click in.

I'm currently using the 2 hooks in the middle for a car seat ...but then both side will lose a hook if I? needed to add another seat
