X6 F16, Problem with the electric steering wheel

Hi everyone,

I have a 2015 X6 F15 and my electric steering wheel canīt adjust in & out, but up and down. I found this problem just today when I drove my car to work.

Have someone seen this kind of problem on F15/F16?

Any solution?

There are 2 different motors for telescoping (in and out) and tilting (up and down). Could be 1 motor stopped working. Do you hear motor trying to move or there is nothing at all?

P.S. Lots of electric equipment in our cars and this is the reason I turned off steering wheel memory adjustment during start/stop - just to avoid such issues. I also don't use start/stop mode to avoid starter and battery problems

When I push the button I hear a click sound but the steering wheel doesn't move in and out.

What did the dealer replaced in your car?

I am living in Sweden (Europe) and I don't think there are so many F15/F16 with this kind of problem reported, so I have to tell them that this is a common issue and probably get BMW to do this under warranty/Goodwill, because my car is just 2 months over the warranty.

exact same issue with my 2016 X6 20+k miles, just dropped to my dealer 2 days ago to get it fixed while driving 200miles new x5 loaner with extreme vibration at 75mph+

Also, while using my Valentine One Radar in this new X5 loaner - car engaging Laser Wave constantly - any idea which part of this car causing this interference?

Please advise on how to turn off the steering wheel memory adjustment? Mine has a kicking sound as my preferred position returns to retracted - which is a pain - if I could leave in preferred position (all the way out and down) would be much better ?

Hey Sumokb, I used Carly adapter and App to code it out. I know it's not much help and I wish I knew easier way to turn auto adjustment off (besides pulling fuse). Maybe someone can chime in on this matter?

Your X should still be under warranty if it is a 15. Even if you got it let 14 it should be under warranty till 18.

The dealer should take care of this no problem.

Is everything tied to mileage when it comes to warranty or are some items time based only? I've got out of the warranty period (50k/miles) in the first year and well over 100k now... but the car is not even 3 years old... my steering column is not telescoping anymore and same click noise as mentioned above... no movement...

Good looking out! I didn't think about the start/stop mode killing the battery and starter. Prob doesn't save much fuel anyway.

Do you know what fuse you pulled, if you did and where its located? Was it one of these, under the steering wheel picture? I am wondering if mine is related to a blown fuse...
