Pirelli Scorpion winter tires for msport

There were several threads that referenced Pirelli Scorpion winter tires for 20" wheels. I can't find them in the right size on the pirelli or tirerack website.
I'm looking for 315/35/20 and 275/40/20. Do they not make them anymore or am I missing something. I'm looking for winter snow and ice for a X50i msport. Anybody have any insight? Or alternatives?

Thanks. I don't know why it wasn't coming up before. Maybe they just updated their info or maybe I put in the wrong info. Anyway, thanks.

You're very welcome. Yeah, they must have just updated since the 315's come in stock August 4.

Have you considered going down in size to 18" or 19" and running a non-staggered setup? This is what the local tire shop recommended.

Apparently running the same all around allows the back wheels to fit into the track created by front and improves traction in snow.

Yeah, I've considered it. I don't buy that same track argument... Really not going to make that much difference even if in a straight line, and they aren't in the same track when you're not going perfectly straight anyway. I like the look of the 20" way better than 19" and I don't want to have to have the 19" on 3 or 4 months out of the year.
And since I'm going to invest in another set of wheels anyway, I kind of like the idea of having an identical set. As wheels get beat up, scratched, etc, I can always keep the summer tires on the 4 that are in the best shape. I know narrower tires are supposed to be better on snow, but these new snow and ice rated tires with the cold weather compound are so much better than snow tires used to be, I'm not too concerned about it.

Here's another set that will fit. Toyo GSi-5. Anybody know anything about these tires?

Seems like an amazing winter tire. It has solid review across the board. The only downside to them is the road noise, particularly the highway.

I too have been considering the Pirelli Scorpion's in that staggered 20's setup. Winter will be upon us soon....depressing to think about!

I believe Toyo has two different models that fit. Check out treaddepot.com. Any opportunity to get out of run-flats is a good one in my opinion.

I intend to order the Nokian Hakkapeliita 7 tires, with studs, which are legal for use in California between Nov. and April. I will be using them late DEC to early MAR.

They are run flat with studs and available in stud-less (Hakkapeliita R2) as well.

I think these tires were designed with X5, Audi and Cayenne in mind.

Can not find 315/35/20 and 275/40/20.
Did you look for same tyres?

Sorry....I misread your size prerequisite.

The Nokian don't come in that size. My recommendation, which you already would know, is to go into snow with a 50-60 profile, at the lowest.

I have bought 18" rims to which I will add TPMS and the Nokian run flats. It is a much easier alternative as I don't have to mount a new set of tires on the rims. They can be swapped quickly, and go back to storage in March/April.

The Nokian solves the ski period well, without being too bothersome or noisy.

Ok, I see now.
I do not have intentions to buy another set of rims.
So most likely just go to another maker.

I commend your attempt. The two-sets-of-rims is the only for me to do this. I have done so for 20+ years. For three months I live with uglier wheels, and have full comfort in the mountains.

I went with the 2 Wheel Set Up. Just went on TireRack and bought 4 non staggered wheels with the Bridgestone Blizzaks for $1,800.00 shipped. They had a sale on the wheels for $149.00 ea. which was a deal! Bring on the winter!
