F15 Mirror Compass

Hey guys, just received delivery on 2015 x35i alpine white msport line. Great car for the wifey. Is the car supposed to have a digital compass on the rear view mirror indicating direction of travel?? I thought this was standard for all BMWs. I did a search and read something about pushing a button on the bottom of the mirror, but it didn't seem to work (this was a discussion in the 3 series forum). Any help greatly appreciated.

No compass mirror on F15s or F16s, sadly.

I used the one in the dash. Just tap the BC button on the left stalk until it appears.

As J said above, the one in the dash is the only way to view the digital compass in these two vehicles.

Actually lot of the previous BMW E chassis have the compass on the rearview mirrors.. I guess the F series is when BMW did away with them...

My 1987 Volvo XC70 had it. Not really very useful. I usually have the map display on

I think the new expensive car have their compass in the instrument cluster and/or navigation screen.
I just coded X Drive display on my sDrive.

I loved the compass mirror on my prior BMWs. Never realized how much I'd miss it in the X5.

No mirror compass. Not sure why it doesn't. The F33 loaner I'm driving has it.

Not True my 2014 X6M had compass in the mirror.

Although the OP hasn’t been on the forum since 2015…I’m not sure why not having the compass embedded in the rear view mirror is an issue when you can always tell which direction you’re traveling by looking at your nav screen.

Even if you select one of the other map perspectives where the map isn't always facing north (direction of travel or perspective/bird’s eye)…there are arrows that show due north and your direction of travel. A compass in the rear view mirror is redundant…when it is always on your nav screen.
