2016 X5 release date??

Does anyone here know when the 2016 X5's are supposed to be released in the US? Im interested in buying a new X5, but I don't really want to buy a 2015 if the 2016 is going to come out as soon as I do. Also are there any specific options that you guys think are 100% worth having?

I am sure someone with more information will reply to your question soon. I am in the process of buying the 2015 X5 50i myself but my order date has been moved to about June or July. I will like to know what the 2016 X5 will have and when it will be available for order. Since the new X5 was only introduced in the 2014 model year (MY), I don't expect there to be many changes for MY2016. But I will not be happy if I order the 2015 and two months later, the 2016 has the 6WB digital cluster for example or some other nice update that I would have to pay out of pocket for.

I searched a lot on Google but nothing (absolutely nothing) came up for the 2016 X5.

Also, with respect to what you must have in your build, it depends on your budget. Personally, I will say M Sport line and Dynamic Handling Package (DHP). The M Sport looks nice and I personally like the feel of the M Sport wheel having recently taken a 50i M Sport for a test drive. I am yet to drive one with DHP but the gurus on this forum swear by it. Both options alone will add $9k to your build ($8k for 50i), so its significant dollars.

There are other nice options that you can add, HK sound, Driver Assistance Package (and Plus), and Multi Contour seats all get a lot of good reviews here.

By the way, my build includes all the options I have mentioned above.

Its all about your budget and what matters most to you but if you can afford it, get DHP for sure.

Usually BMW switches MY production in July/August. Atleast that was the case for the 3 and 5 series made in Germany. Not sure about the X5/X6

I believe on another thread I saw August SOP of 2016 models for the X5/X6, meaning September delivery in the US

Yeah I think October to be safe. Also I highly doubt 6WB will be added on the next year model and likely there will not be much change except for maybe some options and packages being changed around. We will probably see 6WB on the LCI (Life cycle impulse) which is likely for 2017 or 2018 model year.

Maybe. However the 2015 F15 Canada quietly just got 6WB standard.

6WB is a market decision .... not a technical one for the usa. Its certainly coming ... Whether you get it in 2016 ... Is another matter. Well have to see what mercedes, audi and JLR offer up.

Next gen idrive is on the way too but that will be a slow roll out across the range and the x5/6 are normally the last to get those updates.

Oh and then theres the new engines. Lots of changes on the way.

According to the extensive research I did, we should see this happening in about 3-3.5 yrs. including new engines... I wouldn't expect the new idrive rolling out to X vehicles until then.

And hopefully it's higher resolution than the current 6WB

I thought the resolution on F15 is rather high (compared to F10 for example)?

That's a pitty. Not easy to match super clarity of the idrive screen. When I drove the i8, i noticed that resolution of the gauges was matching the idrive screen if not even higher. i8 gauges are smaller than MFD in F1x cars but still. I will still get MFD at some point to refresh the car a bit.

Hello,

I am new on here, but in the process of getting a new X5 X35d - 2015 build

2016 build starts production - 08/2015 for the S35i, X35i and X50i. 12/2015 is the start of production for X35d.

I didn't see the 6WB on the list; however the list of all parts is too long to keep me interested. Best wishes AC

I got a 2014...
It spent the last 67 days at the dealer.
It is still there and will remain there for another 2 weeks.
Awaiting parts from Germany...
Option I'm proposing is the buyback and a new one at cost but not sure if I really want now to give a another chance to the X5...
Especially if 2016 is similar to mine...

the resolution and contrast on 6wb is crap. i moved from an f10 with 6wb to f15 with the base display and dont' really miss 6wb except with changing songs (the list is narrow on base cluster). for every thing else, its fine. what is shocking is the nav integration could have been so much better on 6wb but it same as a base cluster.
