Internet Browser

Does the 2015 have an Internet Browser? I see it on the website and the associated video, but I don't see it in my car.

I did read the manual. This is why I posted the screenshot from BMW.com. My car does not seem to have that option. I see BMW Online but it only contains news, weather, online search (maps), applications, recently used, connected drive store, and settings. The video on the site seems to indicate there is a full browser somewhere.

No it does not. That is an entirely different feature and is usually only on Euro vehicles. When you activate that through coding you lose all BMW Assist functionality and BMW Online Services. That's how it works the last time myself/other coders checked.

The browser is there, you just have to call and activate it. I think it's around $99/year as an extra service. Can't say it's overly useful if you have a decent cellphone unless you are being chaperoned around and have the rear entertainment system...

You just loose bmw assist control through idrive but bmw assist still works such as AACN.

I have browser on European car, option 614 (Internet preparation). Useless. Normally owners open it couple of times, just to check and see that it is crap.

The only meaningful use case I can think of would be to open google maps (if OEM navigation is outdated, for example). But again, site navigation with iDrive is suboptimal, and browser does not work in motion (video in motion by FDL coding does not override this).

For other uses (news, wheather, FB/Twitter), it is much more convenient to use BMW Connected Drive apps or BMW Live menu - they deliver content which is better formatted for use in a car

In Canada, it is part of the Connected Drive Services, here is the description for it on bmw.ca

"Complimentary 1-year subscription allowing access to the Internet through the iDrive system. Unlimited bandwidth, using the vehicle's built-in SIM card. WIll not use the occupant's mobile data connection."

Seems like only through the iDrive, does not anyone know if it can act as a hotspot for phones/tablets in the car.
