Ahh...I didn't realize it was that big!! I want one as well, lol. I didn't realize that the smaller tray IS the smoker's package, which I have. Is the removal/install easy? Let me know if you get any extra, Ben. Thanks!

It is just a snap. You remove the smoker package ash tray and replace that rubber non-smoker package piece into the ash tray location.
No screw no clips. Haha.
I can order it for you if you want. I have more parts coming in for my customer anyway.

It is not much, only $15.74.
The part# is 51 16 9 252 106

Very easy to do, took me 15~20 minutes, most time consuming is unplugging all the connector since they are very hard and tricky.
Thank you very much for taking the time to create this DIY and for providing the Part#.

Was going to order from Tischer until I saw the shipping which was ~$12 plus a ~$3 handling fee.

Went to Pacific BMW, 3 miles from where I live. It was ~$17 after tax, but free shipping to the dealership AND delivery by Thursday (two days from today).

Love to shop online, but sometimes it's better to just get it from the brick & mortar.

TIP: it is easier if you pull all of these wires out of the white plastic before trying to disconnect them because it will give you more wiggle room to work with. The largest wire was the hardest piece to get out of the stupid white plastic. I literally had to pull it up really hard since it's installed in a sliding in fashion.
Thanks to all for documenting this, especially opasha for the details on the largest connector. In all 10 minutes and Ive gained significant storage. THANKS!!!

Has anyone does this mod on an F16? To my surprise mine didn't have a fan or the wire to the fan! It had the fan grill and everything else looked the same as F15.

Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned it before...anyone doing this mod should do it from the back seat. So much easier.

I have a telephone cradle in my E70 and it doesn't look like i'm getting one on F15. and i will miss it for sure. Does anyone have an unneeded telephone cradle, fan and parts to add this back on F15? i should have all needed wires.

Plastic plate for center console with slits

[QUOTE=Manabu;18127223]Has anyone does this mod on an F16? To my surprise mine didn't have a fan or the wire to the fan! It had the fan grill and everything else looked the same as F15.

I have an F16 with a fan in the center console. Has anybody found a replacement plastic-plate, which does have the slits for the fan? I would like to order a replacement plate with the slits. If I am not able to find it, I may drill holes in the plastic, over where the fan is.

BMW don't make them and I don't think any aftermarket will make them due to the selling price. It is too cheap for them to make an effort to make one.
That fan doesn't even turn on when nothing attached to the cradle. So, even if you made it to fit, it will just sitting there pretty.

Just got done with this little mod. Wow some of those connectors were difficult and the one that was supposedly the easiest(small fan connector) just did not want to come loose. Worst part of the space is those jagged edges of the white plastic behind the cradle bottom piece. Its like they put barbed wire in there so you wouldnt attempt this.

Opasha was a life saver with his description of the connectors especially the big connector piece with the handle.

Great post and info guys!
I will order both parts first time Monday, my car still not here yet, probably before Dec 15th. I love to have useful storage spaces, for tissues, coins, keys, cables, or whatever, I don't smoke and I will never use the phone cradle, so it is a great DIY!
