NBT -> NBT EVO Parts Needed + Coding

Need some help guys.... Doing a NBT -> NBT EVO on a X5 I will be giving to my son. Need help on the parts list. I do not care about factory navigation, etc.

So Far I have:
NBT EVO HW 3.2

Things I need:
BMW CID Display Converter cable
Wifi Antenna

What am I missing?

What else do I need to make this work? Can I install and code directly from the vehicle, or will that trigger any protection mode? If it does, any recommendations on bench coding?

Thanks in advance!

I already went through that thread, doesn't really give all the information like.

Do I need a Can Filter?
Can I code in car? Even if it goes into component protection? Or does it need a bench flash?
Can I code with Protool? Do I need Esys?
Do I need a OABR harness? or can I communicate through OBD?
ETC.

You need CAN filter, usually it is sold with ATM wiring loom.
Yes you usually code in car. If you do everything properly it should not go into the protection. If it does you will need set of FSC codes to remove it.
You do need E-Sys.
Ask OP of that thread, he is very helpful and shared information before.

Just decided to go with Code My Bimmer to reflash the unit/remote coding as well as provide the necessary cables. No headaches on my end..

NBT EVO to APIX1 cable
Wifi cable
OABR cable

NBT EVO Unit $350
Flash/Coding/Cables $279
$629.....not bad
