I went to the muffler shop as I wanted to raise the car on the lift making it easier to install but this can totally be done from the floor..

I bought the 3.75" slip-on tips from Burger tuning. They are currently on sale until they sell off the remaining inventory (see link below).. I do not think they will carry these afterwards so you may want to get yours ASAP if you're interested in doing this mod. They don't have black in stock so, only chrome or burned blue. You can get either one and powdercoat them black. I had mine done in satin black ($44).

Prior to install, you need to cut off a small section of each tab which holds the tips in place. Each tip I believe has 5 tabs inside. I used simple metal cutters to do this. Get a pair of gloves and muscle these tips over your stock tips.. you may need to use decent amount of force to slap them on there so get a pair of thick gloves and give each tip several whacks to jam them on there (literally).

Once installed, they will not be coming off again. For lease owners I'm sure BMW will not mind having it return with this, look 10X better than competition tips which came on my F10 M5.

I just ordered mine , but the green circle part is blocking when I try to slip [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]on?

Sorry for bringing this post back up from the dead, but I just ordered these from AliExpress for about 120$ shipped for all 4. I highly recommend these, such a nice little OEM+ looking exhaust tip, slips on quite easily after cutting the tabs as described in the OP. 2 of them practically just slipped over by hand and then other two needed a little bit of light taps from a hammer (use a rubber mallet or a piece of wood in between the tip or hammer) gives the tips the perfect amount of "poke" and bumps the diameter 1/4" each.

They are really great, but I have unfortunately had bad luck with the black ones. I'm on my second set. The first was from MODE and the second from Ali. The first lasted about a year and a half before the black finish was started coming off. The ones from Ali started losing their finish in about 2 months. I really want to paint them with a high temp black paint, but they are a nightmare to get off. I had to cut the first set off.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. You'll be fine with the chrome and they look great.

Thanks! Good to know, glad I went with the chrome. Here's a before and after for anyone who may be interested and wants to visualize the difference. May not seem like much based on the pictures but honestly they stand out so much more and are more prominent from any rear facing angle, honestly this should have been how it came stock.

Same here, and they're aware of it.

How did you cut them off? Are the tabs not manipulateable? Can't they be bent up/back?

I was going to post about my cutoff saga, but never did. I thought I was going to be able to pull them or tap them off since I had bent the tabs flat. Boy was I wrong. I could wiggle them about an 1/8", but they were locked on somehow and would not budge. I used shears, screwdrivers, pliers....disaster. Ended up using a Dremel with cutoff wheels. They kept shattering or quickly grinding down to nubs. Luckily I had a whole sleeve of them. It was a real case of not having the right tools for the job. Swears were said, beer was consumed, but I got on a role and you can see my learning progression in the pics. Could have done this in 10 minutes with a cutoff wheel on my angle grinder. My plan was to pull them off, repaint them and reinstall. The DIY gods said nope.

Thanks for confirming my worst fears, lol.
Anyone considering the black Ali-Cheapies should definitely get them powdercoated first!
