Strange error

Rough idle at start yesterday with a drivetrain error. Turned car off and restarted and all good. Ran a code check. Weird.

Some light research suggest possible Vanos solenoid?

Errors were:
Boost pressure control
Vanos

2016 w/62k.

My '17 X5m with 53k miles had the same "issue" a couple of months ago. Restart seemed to have fixed it, but took it to the dealer nonetheless without clearing the codes, as I had extended warranty coverage. Dealer changed Vanos solenoids ($1400) and all is good now.

Ista + has vanos solenoid test protocol. That should be run first before any conclusions

The test passed for me before I took it to the dealer. It was probably just a transient condition for me, but I was happy to get the replacement under warranty

Sorry to bump an old thread, but do you remember where the test plan is for the vanos?
